Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Mechanics -> How are two musical instruments tuned ? explain -> Go to message
This Post 2 points    (Olaaa!! Perrrfect answer.   in 1 votes )   [?]
mostly..
musical instruments are made of things like wood which are organic in nature.......
string instruments... the strings are stretched such that while vibrating... the frequency of string equals the natural frequency of the instrument body...
they are tuned such way...
after that.... it is upto us to increase the frequency..............
the better we increase it by ten hz..
the better musicians we are......

heisenberg's uncertainity principle talks about the uncertainity in position and momentum of any particle...
i'm not stating it in exact form....
heisenberg found out that if they use a wave of long wavelength...
then position of particle cannot be determined accurately.. but momentum is determined accurately.......
if wave of short waveleght is used.. then position is determined accurately.. but not momentum.....
and uncertainity in momentum and position is always greater than or equal to h/4pi

hydrogen atom is the most basic stable atomic structure which has just one proton and and an electron...

shrodinger wave equation is the equation of wave proposed by sir shrodinger for electrons in shell........
but i dont understand the equation completely....

on a rainy day..
humidity is very high..
u know that intensity is directly proportional to humidity....
so...
intensity doesnt decrease as fast as in a sunny day....
i.e sound retains its intensity over a longer distance........
so..
sound is heard over a longer distance.

Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Analytical Geometry -> How to find eqn of diameter of a circle when eqn of circle is given? -> Go to message
This Post 14 points    (Olaaa!! Perrrfect answer.   in 4 votes )   [?]
i'm so sorry..
i thought u wer asking the diameter....
i didnt see the word equation....

suppose the equation of the circle is x^2 + y^2 - 2gx - 2fy + c = 0
then.. centre of the circle is in (g,f)
let the equation of the diameter be ax + by + k = 0
then...
if you solve for x=g, y=f
u'll get k.....
all the solutions of the equation ag + bf + k = 0{ we have two variables a,b here but only one equation... so it is linear inequation}
for a and b will represent different diameters of the circle....

This Post 0 points    (Olaaa!! Perrrfect answer.   in 0 votes )   [?]
quite easy...
by the equation of form x^2 + y^2 - 2gx - 2fy + c = 0
u can find g and f.....
now...
c = g^2 + f^2 - R^2
from this...
you can find radius R...
double it.....
u can find the diameter

hey...
did u apply equations of motions??????
that's wrong...
i also tried until i realized that acceleration is not constant.....
equations of motions are valid only in inertial frames.....
it came d ^1/3 after applying equation of motion..

hydrogen is adsorbed in platinum under 1atm and 298 K
..
it is then made as electrode..

here is my explanation...
pressure is of course different....
acceleration is v^2/r
now... pressure is density*acceleration*difference in displacement along the acceleration vector....
let ther be a seperation of x metres...
then difference in pressure will be density*x*v^2/r...

hey...
is the answer 1/64 * 14/63.....
here is the logic behind my answer...
the first square can be any one of the 64 squares....
for the next square...
we hv to choose one of the squares which lie on horizontal or vertical line wrt the 1st square..
there are 14 such square...
so the probablity that the nest square is one of those 14 is 14/63

it is js an alkene + alcohol and special condition that one doubly bonded carbon should have an OH gp. attached to it..
Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Thermal Physics -> newton's law of cooling -> Go to message
This Post 5 points    (Olaaa!! Perrrfect answer.   in 1 votes )   [?]
hey..
do you remember stefan's law...
that E = AT4

newton took that difference b/n the surroundings and body be smalll
let that differnce be T
and temp. of surrounding be T0

then, heat radated from the body will be
dQ/dt =  A{( T0 + T)- T0  raised to the power 4}
         = AT0^4 {(1 + T/T0 )4 -1 }
let AT0 ^4 = k as it is a constant
so...
mC(dT/dt) = k* ( 1 + (4T/T) - 1)  after binomial expansion.....
as del T is very small compared to T
-1 and +1 will get cancelled in the brackets...
rearranging ...
we will get dT/dt is directly proportional to del T......
as all other units are constant.... so dT/dt = K T  where K is constant....
it is the exact stament of newtons law of cooling......
if you integrate the above equation....
 you will get you will get temp. T after time 't' will be equal to
T= T0  + { Tinitial  - T0} e-Kt

also...
if u see some of the books...
torque is referred to as couples....
coz two forces opp. in direction are need usually...
and shamips is absolutely right...
friction produces torque......
sometimes... we even can even open it wid one finger..
but if u r talking about caps like that of reynolds...
we increase normal force on the cap by pressing both the fingers hard....
then friction becones higher.......
then.. if we can make it higher than opening force... we open it..

This Post 2 points    (Olaaa!! Perrrfect answer.   in 1 votes )   [?]
hey varun.. though tension equals applied force for many questions..... it actually depends on the situation...
there are some situations where tension doesnt equal applid force...
eg. consider a rod.. if you apply force on one part of the rod and calculate tension somewhere near middle... it wont be equal to the force applied...
