I have 4 discount coupons worth Rs 2000 and Rs 3000 for the one year classroom and two year classroom programs respectively, for BT Delhi's classroom programs.

I myself was a student a BT, so this is some marketing strategy of theirs wherein every student recommended by me gets a discount while joining. In addition, I get Rs 1500 for each student who joins.

As you can see, it is a win win situation for me and the person whom I recommend. I get 1500, and the person who joins gets a discount. Don't miss this opportunity.

THERE ARE NO STRINGS ATTACHED. I WILL NOT CHARGE ANYTHING. YOU JUST HAVE TO COME NEAR MY HOUSE AND TAKE THE COUPON!

However, please ask me for these coupons if and only if you are genuinely interested in joining BT delhi classroom program, and BT only. If you do not use this coupon, somebody needy might miss out on the discount. Also, I won't get Rs 1500 from BT. Hence please don't waste this coupon.

Please contact me only if you want to join BT for sure. I will give my phone number to those interested.

If anybody wants to avail this opportunity, please scrap me. I am leaving Delhi on July 29th, so hurry up.

BITS Goa>DA IICT>BITS Hyd (BITS Hyd is under pilani so in due course of time not joining hyd might prove to be a not-so-good decision, but in today's date..this order)>Manipal>Nit Jaipur>SRM

Don't go by what people say about manipal on this forum, their placements are improving, they have good facilities, as an environment it is way better than NIT jaipur, IMO (i know people who study there, they tell me about the abysmal state of affairs there) if they were as bad as people make them out to be here, they wouldnt be having an MoU with UC Berkeley...

It also depends on your branch.. if u want IT related fields, then i would suggest DA IICT over the rest... it has great faculty, great opportunities for working on projects and stuff.

Do look into the dual degree programs of BITS. That way, he can get whatever BE he wants by performing well in the first year. All dualites get BE degrees. 2degrees in 5 years... 1 year is internship

After taking BITSAT, you are supposed to fill you preference form, it should reach BITS by 20th June.

In Iteration 1, if you are offered admission, you have to pay a certain amount to keep your seat. If you are waitlisted, you have to pay a certain amount to stay in the waiting list.

People who dont pay the required amount before due date are chucked out, and Iteration 2 happens. Some people from iteration 1 waiting list are offered admission. These people who are offered admission in iteration 2 have to pay some fees to keep their seat. People who are still waitlisted are advised to wait for Iteration 3 and 4 results.

This whole process repeats till Iteration 4 or 5... You don't need to visit the instt for counselling, everything is done from the comfort of your home. Just make sure you keep checking results every 4-5 days, and pay any fees that is required to be paid before the deadline.

I dont know much about ISI except for the fact that it is a god-level instt. It is apparently way harder to get into ISI than IITs etc. Congrats!

^^ Don't spread wrong information about BITS. If you dont know about the dual degree program, dont yap random crap about it. You are potentially hurting other people's chances by doing that.

In Pilani you will get a dual with BE in all branches or BPharm (i heard only 2 people got BPharm in Pilani, out of around 200 dualites). In Goa there is no civil or BPharm, so you will get a dual with BE in CS, EEE EnI Mech or Chem... There is no way you can get a BA as a dual :s.. and yes every MSc Hons student gets a dual, and its fairly easy to get CS EEE EnI Mech...

If the cutoffs dont fluctuate too much, you can get Chem, Civil, all MScs at Pilani, EnI, EEE and all MScs at Goa.. no idea about Hyd. 320 is a good score.

Placements aren;t the only aspect you should compare while choosing colleges. I'd say go with your interests....if u like mech, go to Pilani, if u like CS come to Goa...

In Pilani, ME's and PhD's are also included in the placement statistics, i suppose, that might push up the avg at Pilani.

Goa had only BE and MSc's.. next acad yr onwards we have ME Bio Tech and 1 other ME starting.

Only 1 batch at goa has been placed till now. By the time you pass out, placements should improve. Comp at Goa has good placements, btw. Schlumberger conducted a workshop in college last semester, and they said that they'll come next sem onwards for recruitment to Goa.

CUmulative Grade Point Avg is a weighted mean of your performance in all subjects. You are given grades in every subject (A = 10, B = 8, C =6, D=4,E=2), as opposed to the percentage system in other colleges. Every subject is worth a certain number of units.

CGPA = (Add for all subjects(Units a particular subject is worth * Your Grade in that subject))/Total Units

eg.. u get A in a 3 unit course, and B in 4 unit course.. you CGPA will be (3*10+4*8)/(3+4)

Apply to stephen's, get admission there first. Don't let any bird(s) in the hand go. Study hard for BITSAT now, do not think about all this.

JEE rank is not guaranteed if you drop a year, i know a lot of people whos ranks increased (numerically), even though their preparation was better. Your prep and performance isn't the only factor, its all about how well you are positioned among all the candidates in that particular year.

Do 1 thing. Find out from Stephens if they'll take you in next year.

As far as the adverse effects of dropping a year on placements go, i've been told that they are rumours. However you might want to check with other people.

Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Non IIT Institutes -> The Rumours about VIT - how much of it is true? -> Go to message

All you 12th standard pass diaper wearing two digit IQ bearers should learn to READ properly, ANALYSE what is written, and then put forth a LOGICAL argument countering the post intead of the "my dhobi told me VIT sucks" trip.

I dont think you even derserve to go to ghasitaram inginaring kaaleg (no offence if somebody here is a student of that college) if you keep replying like this. Engineers are supposed to have 'analytical skills', not brainless yapping skills. Seifo has make quite a few valid points. A lot of that crap about VIT = rumours. EVERY COLLEGE HAS PEOPLE WHO DRINK, SMOKE AND DO DRUGS! BE IT MIT, IITs, BITS, MANIPAL, or VIT!

The admission criteria for a college does not have too much to do with the research projects going on in the institute. I myself once called up VIT for kicks, to check how much i'd have to pay for a seat. 8 lacs for Comp Sci, I was told. However, that does not mean that college is absolute bullsh*t! I know quite a few brainly people in there.

Every college having a high fee structure/donation admission isnt bad! If that was the case, all the top american univs would have been 'bad' you retards! Most americans cant send their kids to college because of the high costs! Manipal Medical College is highly reputed, they have NRI seats too!

One of the biggest mistakes we make is judging 'student quality' on the basis of performance in Entrance Exams... how can 1 bleddy exam determine your QUALITY? It just reflects your preparation for that exam..or maybe ur performance within those 2-3 hrs.. There's so much more to a person than what he did in those 2-3 hours! Trust me, after being in BITS for a year, there are a LOT of achievers who had low scores in the entrance, and a lot of HIGH scorers who're considered absolute dumbos.

Maybe VIT isnt the best out there, but it sure as hell is not as bad as you pre pubescent wankers make it out to be.

Hey dave,

Stephens is great. BUT if you only study for JEE during that year and screw your DU marks, things become really hard, it is really hard for you to pull up your %. One of my friends studied Maths at stephens for a year, took all the engineering entrances again and is now doing MSc Bio Sc at BITS Pilani Goa Campus. His first year %age wasn't that great though (at stephens).

Based on what I gather from my interaction with DU students, the need for further education/training post/during DU is felt. As in, more people from Stephens prefer to take up further studies/CAT/Civil Services etc than placements compared to engg colleges. I'm not 100% sure abt this, so feel free to correct me.

I am a dropper too. If you are confident of being regular with your studies for JEE, and most importantly, if you have a backup in the form of some NRI quota seat in a decent coll like Anna Univ/Thapar or enough money for BITS Dubai, go for a drop, since you have a backup plan (or if your'e willing to pay, go now itself :P). Otherwise, it could be a gamble which might or might not pay off. I don't know if stephen will take you in next year, do enquire with them. I know a guy who studied law at Amity for a year and is now doing BSc Chem at Stephens.

In my case, I had secured admission into Uni of Toronto, BITS Dubai and Singapore Mgmt Univ during my entrances, so that eased the pressure off me. In the worst case scenario, my dad would have had to part with a lot of his hard earned cash. I was able to take my exams with a cool head, and i'm now MORE than happy in BITS!

And most importantly... you're exams are not over yet! study hard for BITSAT, do NCERT thoroughly (for Phy and Chem atleast), it shouldnt take much time if you've done it properly before! Plan your strategy out carefully for the exam, concentrate on solving maximum questions correctly within a time limit rather than solving hard questions.. all questions have same no. of marks, so its worthless to spend more than a minute on a question... get back to it in the end IF you have time left. usually these hard questions are time traps, nothing else :P  Trust me leave a hard question the moment you see it coz there is no point! In BITSAT if u solve all the easy Qs correctly, you'll sail through easily.... take my word for that!

All the best, study hard, post your BITSAT score at www.bits360.com/forum once you're done! Also, since i might not visit this thread, PM me once youre done. Incase you get a decent score, fill in all options at all campuses, and do look into the MSc Hons dual degree program, it is a simple concept, and people have a LOT of misconceptions about it!

I'm doing MSc Eco at BITS Pilani Goa out of choice, my score was 301, i could have got any MSc at Pilani also. I think you can opt for a dual degree program at goa/pilani/hyd.  Fill in all your options, VERY CAREFULLY, in the order you want.

You have to choose between NIT C and BITS i guess...obviously, since i'm a bitsian, i'll recommend bits, but i think you should make your choice after carefully examining your goals (academic and otherwise)

Single degree = 4 years. 3.5 on Campus and 0.5 off campus (PS2 aka graded internship)

Dual degree (MSc + BE, both are independent of each other) = 5 years. 4 on Campus, 1 off campus (2 PS2's, again graded internship)

PS 2 should count as work exp, i'm not sure about that.

Visit : http://bits360.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1280 for further info. Read through it carefully and pm if u have any further doubts. All the best. :)

I've completed my first year at bits pilani, goa.

bits conducts the exams for a whole month. 3 sessions a day. 90 exams. 90*number of questions. The probability of error is high. when errors are reported by students, they look into the matter, and most importantly, resolve it. I didnt notice any error in the question paper, but 4 marks were increased later.. so it felt like a bonus for me. If you think there's a problem, report to the authorities, they will surely resolve it.

Dude, there are loads of people who left NITs and came to BITS in the 4th iteration, the moment they got a seat in BITS.

Iterations are simply, 'counsellings' which dont require your physical presence. You just have to post the draft and your preference form (which must be filled very carefully, fill in all options, hope you're aware of the dual degree MSc (hons) system). Keep checking bitsadmission.com for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th iteration results, and always pay whatever fees they ask you to, so that you dont miss out on a seat. If you dont get a seat, you are refunded the entire amount.

there are lots of people who got admission in the 2nd 3rd or 4th iteration (but didn't know of it!), they didnt check the results until it was too late to pay the fees... keep track of the dates of the results and deadlines for payment of fees
