Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Organic Chemistry -> what is metamerism?? how we can find which isomers are metamers?? -> Go to message
This Post 0 points    (Olaaa!! Perrrfect answer.   in 0 votes )   [?]

 Organic compounds in which 2 or more alkyl groups are attached to same functional group show matamerism. Example of such functional groups are ether, ketone, sec-amine, tertiary amine. As metamers are isomers the molecular formula remains same but they differ in number of carbon around given functional group. For example pentone-2 and pentone 3 are metamers as in case 1 1 methyl and 1 propyl group is attached to CO bond while in case 2 2 ethyl groups are attached to CO bond,

 When formic acid oxidises to CO2 oxidation state of C changes from +2 to + 4. So n factor is 2. n-factor for K2Cr2O7 is 6. So  1/3 mole of K2Cr2O7 is needed per mole of formic acid.

 Heat of hydroenation of a,b,c will be less than that of d as there is only one double bond. Out of a,b,and c (b) is most stable.  So its heat of hydrogenation is minimum.

 drift velocity (vd) = eEt/m where e is charge of electron, E is electric field, m is mass of electron and t is relaxation time. With increase in temperature relaxation time decreases and hence drif velocity decreases.

 Current is scalar product of current density and area vector, i = j.a that is why current is scalar.

 If r = xi + yj + zk be general point on the plane then scalar triple product of vectors (r-A) , (B-A) and (C-A) is equal to zero.

Write a determinant with first row as (x+6), (y-3) & (z-2) ; second row as 9,-5 & 2 and third row as 11,4,1 and put it equal to zero. Solve to get the answer.

 v2=u2+2gh

In first case v = 3 and u=0 hence 2gh =9

In second case u=4 so v = sqrt(16+9) = 5 km/hr

 cos(@/2) = sqrt{(cos(@)+1)/2}

Use this to find cos(15) from cos(30) and then find cos(7.5) using cos(15).

 For a solid floating in liquid

fraction of solid submerged = density of solid/density of liquid

0.6 = density of wood/density of water

density of wood = 0.6*density of water = 0.6*1000 = 600 kg/m3

In second case

0.85 = density of wood/density of liquid

density of liquid = 600/0.85 = 705 kg/m3

 Weight of lead = weigh of more water displaced

mg = d*pi*r^2*h*g (d is density of water=1g/cc, r is radius of tube=0.8cm, h height of tube submerged=3cm)

m =d*pi*r^2*h =1*3.14*0.8*0.8*3 = 6.03 g

 Sidhartha, scope is a very vague term. The answer to this question depends on (i) what do you want to to do in your life (ii) from where do you pass out. But in general the scope of aeonotical engineering a bit limited as number of companies offereing jobs for aeronotical enginnering are quite few.

 (1) sin(Y) =sqrt(1-cos2(Y))

(2) Let unit vector along line 1 be b1 and unit vecto along line 2 is b2 and Y is the angle between lines.

Then by definition b1 = l1i+m1j+n1k and b2 = l2i+m2j+n2k

Taking dot product of b1 and b2 we get

b1.b2 = mod(b1)*mod(b2)*cos(Y) = cos(Y) = l1l2+m1m2+n1n2 [mod(b1) =mod(b2)=1 as they are unit vectos]

mass and charge are two separate quantities. Hence there we cannot say that i is same as v or di/dt is same as acceleration.

 eqns are |z-4-8i| = sqrt(10)and|z-3-5i| + |z-5-11i| = sqrt(80)

first equation is a circle with centre (4,8) and radius sqrt(10)

Second equation is an ellipse with focii (3,5) and (5,11). In this ellipse 2a = sqrt(80) and 2ae = sqrt(2^2+6^2) =sqrt(40). So e = 1/sqrt(2). centre of this ellipse is (4,8). In this ellipse a = sqrt(20),  b =sqrt(10).

As center of ellipse is same as that of circle and r = b. so the cicle wil touch ellipse on two points.

So answer is 2.

n = sin{(A+dm)/2}/sin(A/2)

By diffrentiating wrt dm we get

delta_n  =  cos{(A+dm)/2}/sin(A/2)*delta_dm/2 = cos(45)/sin(30)*delta_dm/2

delta_dm = 1/2o = pi/360 radian.

delta_n = cos(45)/sin(30)*pi/720.

% error = delta_n/n*100 = pi*100/720 =0.43%

Right answer by mihir and right solution by tarun. By substituting 1+x = t you will get [{log(1+x)}^2]/2 as answer.
