see, if light is propagating ppd the x axis...........ie in the y-z plane....... then u put a nicol prism along the y axis........so , wat it basically does is shun the light moving in all othr directions [ like the z] ...so that only the light originally moving along the y axis is allowed... so the intensity is also reduced by 50 percent

yeah.. light does not travel in straight lines .... due 2 diffraction. but ray optics is the lim of wave optics... ie at v large distances the light despite showing diff. [which bcums insignifivcant] "appears" to move in straight path

gravitational force between 2 bodies is universal... but wen the same applies 2 a body on earth , ie , earth is one of the bodies , then this grav. force is called gravity. now this grav. force b/w the earth and the body is at eqm unless the body tries 2 move away frm the earth... the earth then pull s it back and that is wen u see gravity in effect
