see, an ammeter is used to measure the current. when connected in series it will be able to measure the current passing through the circuit but if it was connected in parallel it would have measured some other current which is not desired. similarly for voltmeter it is in parallel as the potential difference across the system is same when connected in parallel. hope you got it.

the resultant is zero when two vectors of equal magnitude are anti-parallel (at 180 degrees) to each other.

enantiomers can be separated by the following methods:
1) Crystallization: the solution contaning dextro and leavo form of enantiomers is crystallised. the crystals of dextro and leavo forms are of different shapes and so can be separated.
2) Chemical Separation: The enantiomeric mixture is reacted with a chiral molecule to form a diastereomeric mixture. diastereomers have different physical properties and can be separated easily.
3) Enzymatic Action (Biochemical Method): Enzymes are stereospecific and react differently with enantiomers.
4) Chromatography: the mixtures is passed over optically active stationary phase. the components have different adsorbing ability and hence different Rf values.

Hey friends i am unable to understand the Resistor Colour Codes and how the resistance is calculated when four coloured resistors are placed one after another. also explain the digits (what the single digits and numbers in order of ten) and meaning of tolerance.

PS: please tell a trick to remember the order if possible.

Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Physical Chemistry -> is this correct- higher the value of reduction potential greater would be reducing power -> Go to message

No. higher value of reduction potential signifies greater power to get reduced itself not to reduce any other atom/ion. hence lower the reduction potential greater is the reducing power.
