You are almost sure to get Mechanical in Pilani campus and E & I in Goa campus....

Bits is way above LNMIIT, go BITS!!

Hi abstract,
Last year's cutoff were 283 (after all iterations), though this year's BITSAT was tougher than last year's, You may be just lucky to get a seat.

What ever the case is, fill the choices CAREFULLY, also never think you might not clear cut-off..... Its not upto you to decide, be sure to fill the form... it only costs 200 bucks.

@esaxena

I am VIT passed out. I had got 9384 A.I.R in AIEEE (in class 12th, without coaching)..... I opted not to drop, but it did not prove to be a good decision

Your case is almost similar to me... except that I din not know about second counselling and No BitSAT at that time... Your BiTSAT marks are good and I would suggest you to either...

1) take a dual at pilani campus and try for upgradation in B.E

2) take Mech at Goa campus (No less than Pilani campus)

3) take admission in NIT in SECOND COUNSELLING (so that you get better college and branch) and prepare for JEE.

I personally would not suggest you to prepare for JEE in college (though possible, but extremely difficult, plus, you will miss one year of colege life if you are unable to make it)

So go for either 1 or 2 in my opinion

Cheers :)

I generally would have said to stick to BITS, as it offer you a decent enuf branch and a good college, but as you have specifically mentioned your inclination for MS, I would suggest to go for IIT, for the same reason mention above by puneet.

PS - I am a VIT passed out. Are you really sure that you would be wanting to go for MS after 4 years too.... What I want to convey is that 4 years is a long period (and technical studies you might not find all that interesting to continue studying them after 4 years). If you are absolutely sure about it.... Go IIT, if a bit unsure than pilani is no bad place to be, you have already invested 1 year there and BiTS will also fetch you good enuf universities..

@ nigeria_sms

Kindly do not pose your "opinion" as "facts".

@ Pratham

No Goa batch has been passed out yet, so we do not know the placement level, but we can expect them to be of same level as Pilani campus, as faculty, facilities, infrastructure and student quality is at par pilani at Goa campus.

@ santu

The BITSAT this year was difficult than last years, but awareness about Goa Campus and dual courses have certainly increased. You can HOPE for a -10 dip max. in the cutoffs... Still fill up your preference form carefully, it only costs 200 bucks

333 is a good score. you might get Mech. in pilani, and EIE in goa. Both are great campuses (I am using the term 'campuses' because both are the same institute, Bits-Pilani).... Pilani campus is one of the oldest in the country, and Goa campus has best facilities......

Mind you, Goa campus is also BiTS Pilani....

Just get your head clear, what would you like better... Mech. or EIE? This should answer you?

PS - Whichever campus you go, you will comeout to be a winner. Visit http://www.bits360.com forums for futher guidance

I am a VIT Passed out, so I know quite a bit about VIT.... .also my friends have spent their 4 years at MIT, so I feel I can give you a realistic view of both the colleges on all the parameters.

_________________________VIT____________________ Manipal
Infrastructure______________ 8.3_____________________ 7.0
placements _______________6.5_____________________ 7.5
Intellectual capital__________6.0_____________________ 5.5
Research Work____________4.5_____________________ 4.5
College life________________7.5_____________________ 8.8

(Assuming 10.0 as the absolute best possible in any college in india)

Conclusion : Both colleges are almost similar.... Get the college, where you get better branch.

Also consider, various factors for personal consideration

Hi,
I am a VIT passed out. I also agree that VIT does not worth 14th rank in the rankings, but its certainly good enough to be in between top 20-25.

I am a VIT Passed out and I am rather in shock to hear such reviews about VIT, from the students who have not been even there. Its not a bad college at all, and Do not believe such blogs, there do exists few people, who do not get satisfied anywhere and just see the negative of each side.

I repeat, VIT is not a bad college at all, to pursue your engineering.

Manipal is slightly better than VIT, in terms of placements..... I dont see much difference in both the colleges though, 4 years down the line. Get the college, where you are getting better branch.

Hi,
I am VIT passed out, so here is my opinion.

VIT is certainly not a bad college, infact in my opinion its far better than few colleges above VIT. Must have been between 28th - 32nd best college.

Infrastructure is really good.
Research is OK.
Placements are Slightly below average, for a college of this repute.

Hi dragon,
I am a VIT passed-out, so I guess, I can help you a bit. Your results are good, and show that you are a good stuent, but preparing for JEE is not as easy as you might think, in college.

I would suggest you to join Bits Pilani (You are almost sure to get there, last year's cutoff was 283/284 (for pilani campus/goa campus), and this year's BITSAT is supposed to be more difficult, so have a good chance in my opinion) and try to upgrade your branch and take a dual.

Check out http://www.bits360.com forums for further guidance.

Hope this post helps.
