dude i think u r going for coucelling right????? ok then go ther and ask all your queries to the mangement......they held a special session for that in anna auditorium..........if u get satisfied by their answers then join vit ............other wise dont...........so simple isnt it???????? also count on your personal experience while you stay for councelling......and compare them with the experience at manipal........note how much cooperative the mangement is????how good the infra and facilities actually are.........if u get satisfied then dont consult anyone......and join vit

yes but you have to have healthy gpa for that.............but from civil and mech i dont think its possible to get microsoft, google etc........you can take eie or eee............though i suggest eee

and microsoft and yahoo probably did not visit manipal this yr.........they dont have their name in the recruitors list....given by them on there website

50 k people wrote manipal this yr..........1lakh 50 k wrote vit .....this shows the level of competion in vit

majority of the people in vit have aieee ranks 10k-15k........and i know my friends who got nothing went for manipal.............

u dont know anything about vit placements dude...........because microsoft and yahoo have given packages 9.1 and 9.8............allright dont make up things over here.........if u go to vit you can ask about the placement details and then open your mouth......

there are 400 mangement seats only........i will give u the official link as soon as possible to prove that

well manipal students are not upto the mark.......vit students are much better in terms of academics.

so if u join vit u will be in much better company...........but if u join manipal .........there u will see that people with 80k and 1lakh ranks in aieee are sittnig there. so u might face some frustration........and dont worry about placement, infra, research etc... it is better or at par with manipal...........

just apersonal thing i am telling u......i dropped nit durgapur for vit and iam quite happy by my decision......there are many like me in my batch

well i wont really compare vit with other colleges because it creates lot of clashes ..........n i dont really want that

first i m giving u the negative pts of vit

1>quite at a remote part of the country.....no direct train or flight available.....the weather is allways set up to make u feel uncomfortable....

2> LECTURERS ARE MEDIOCRE TO the last degree....good ones start from sr lecturers assistant proffessors and proffessors.....actually ece department has the highest no. of iit proffessors....n they are a bit of psychos...

3>the management is too nosy .....so u better mind ur own buisness.

4>they charge a lot for the mess food.......unnecessarily high charges......

5> very high intake......which deteoriates the overall experience of education

6>too many mangement quota seats......about 20 percent in each branch

now positive pts

1> if ur good and are willing to study every one is there to help u........quite a lot research oppurtunities also

2 > labs are excellent.......

3> placement is going up the ladder like any thing even schlumberger is coming.......

4> last yr about 30 people went for international internships from my department........i think its a record of its own....NO nits have achieved that so far

5>the average placement package this yr is 3.5lpa.....which is quite healthy...

6> an excellent environment for study....uif u take ur oppurtunities u will be benifited all the time

7 >even proffessors from iit chennai and other foreign universities come for weeks and teach a topic.......or help in research

vit n thapar both r good......it all depends on where u get better branch

go for vit.....without thinking twice.....

well i think that students above 6k have some chance all right......but of course i think cse and ece , eee ,etc r  will be all filled by then.....but still keep your fingers crossed
