equipotential means surface surface having same potential and potential difference is 0 ........and work done is also 0...

in a conducting shell there are no of free electrons and each electron repel each other with equal force due to which the charge will distribute over the spherical surface therefore charge is 0 inside it...due to which electric field is also 0 .....
