EDITED-
I think Aman has done it correctly.
As  far as ur doubt that why there should be 2 roots,
It is given that 2 distinct chord are drawn. Now the y coordinate of pt of intersection of the 2 chords with the circle is same, it means that the 2 chords can be different only when there are 2 values of h.
Hence there should be 2 values of h and for that D>0.

Hey guys,
Even I also had this question in some corner of my mind.
What I am planning is that do as much iit syllabus as possible till 20dec. Then start preparing for boards till mid Jan so that one pressure is lifted from ur head. And then start the revision and test papers from mid Jan to mid Feb.
From mid Feb onwards, start ur final prepearation of boards.

I would also like to know the advises of more experienced people of goiit.

I am in a dilemma. My mechanics is weak. I have heard and seen that mechanics has too many chapters but its wightage is same as that of optics and modern physics combined.
I want to give some less attention to it.
My plan is to do rotation, work energy power and fluids strongly and leave other topics in mechanics like kinematics,NLM,solids etc.and instead give more attention to Electricity magnetism, optics, modern physics, heat thermodynamics.
And yes, I am also thinking not to give much attention on waves and SHM?

Am I right? Waiting for ur valuable advise.

for entire curve, dy/dx itself will be variable.
May be in that case, take
y'=d2y/dx2=F(x)
F(x) is the double derivative of the curve, then simply draw the graph of y'=F(x)

Let dy/dx on any curve at a given point=m.
Now d2y/dx2 is the slope of dy/dx which is m and m is constant for a given point on the curve.

Therefore, d2y/dx2 should be a straight line y=m.

Assume a thread between 2 parts of the block. The tension due to left thread=T2, due to right thread=T1, Due to thread in between=T3.

Then on 1 kg, forces are-
T3-towards right
T2-towards left
and its acceleration is a-towards right

On 2kg-
T1-towards right
T3-towards left
its acceleration is a towards right

Writing the equations-
T3-T2=a
T3-20=a
32-T3=2a
Adding all 3 we get, a=4m/s^2
Now T3=20 + a
Therefore T3=24N
