all new iit are nearly same and some like iit ropar and iit hyderabad have are little better because of the great intrest shown by state govn. if u want to have core branch u can get it in new iit or in it-bhu.for ranking of new iit u can have a look on following links --

and still if u think of non core branch u can get in older iits.

but differance b/w non core branch in old iits and core branch in new iits will be very large and u may regret in future

and if u r thinking of non-core branch in old iit and think that u can change it after one year so let me tell u that it would be very difficult to get core branch after one year.

i got 3182 open and have the options metallurgy and materials in kharagpur which is the best option

i dont think from last year data u can get even in new iit ,,, but if u get u can understand gyes better then ur rank are in new iits and all of them have option for old nit but they chose iit ..... and some even left nit for iit ,,,

nit are good institute but not a brand name nationally and internationally as of iit ...

IIT rajasthan was started at the same time as of iit ropar but due to some political issues its campus is one year younger then ropar.iit raj. student spent 2 years at iit kanpur and iit ropar student spent only 1 year in iit delhi. so from last 2 years all facilities ar up to place in ropar but in raj. its only 1 year in temp. campus plus punjab state gov. has shown great intrest in building facilities at iit ropar which is not shown by raj. govn. thats why iit ropar and iit hyderabad are some what better in term of fecilitis than other new iit . but if u think in bigger note all new iits are almost same ...

new iit will be better option bcoz within 2 years permanent campus would be there with all facilities which are always the reason given for new iit not being good

as far as faculties are concerned the selection precedure for faculties in new iit is same as old iit so u cant say that that faculties Iat new iit are not good and faculties at old iit are good

and rember that by the time u will pass out all such questions of new iit vs nit vs it bhu vs iiit wont be there bcoz at that time new iit would have proved them self ...

in term of location of industries and other factor iit ropar is best option amoung new iit .. but i dont think u will get CSE even there i think u can get ee or me as far as laast year data are concerned .......

the people who say that students at new iits are less intelegent should upgrade them self before saying so bcoz in new iit most of the student have rank from 2500 to 4000 in jee so u cant say that student getting 1000 rank is intelegent and 3000 rank is not intelegent as it was just the matter of few question only 4 or 5 which made the differance,,

i think if u r from north india iit ropar would be best option and if from south iit hyderabad will be best option if u want to get core branchs.this post has rather turned to be confusing one bcoz of some idiots those who dont have much knowladge .

its true that new iits r now not very good option but better than many other think for a while can u expect a institute like iit to grow overnight , that cant happen becoz setting of new institute like iit will take time ,but if u join now at the time u will pass out these institute will be fully developed and would be some what comparable with old iits...

it-bhu is better option at this point of time but at the time u will pass out it wont be better option bcoz at that time most of the new iits would be fully developed and would and would be better in many terms ...

i told u iit ropar and iit hyderabad because of there locations ( bcoz location of a college counts a lot at the time of placement ) and how state govn. is taking iit for growth,, for eg. punjab govn. following the case of silicon valley,iit madras Research park is developing for techknow park near iit ropar for government academia industry partnership and similer is case with iit hyderabad while most of the other state govn. are not showing much interest ....

i wont say that join new iits blindly look out the campus,faculties and facilities carefully before joining ...

and permanent campus of this institutes is not much far away .....

if u want to take a non core branch in old iit and think that u can get core branch after one year so let me tell u that it woluld be very difficult let me site u an example let 40 student be in any core branch then only 4 student would be allowed to get into core branch and as u r gen. one 2 gen student would be allowed so u can expect how much difficult it would be to get core branch when all non core student are competing for 2 seats ....

so be wise before losing the tag of iit it may happen that u may regret for whole life that even after clearing

jee u r not an iitan or u have to study non core branch .........
