Well, if u do them once only, u'll hv a too gud rank in any xam. God knows wat u'll do aftr a second revision!!
And for the 'practical' part, the stuff in dese buks is enuf.
And yes, u can complete them in a yr but for that, u'll require a well planned strategy wid sufficient time for each subject. This will require ur 200 %age.

fill watever u r interested in, in the decreasing order of preference..i.e...branch + campus. For example ur 1st pref is cse @ pilani, 2) cse @ goa, 3) cse @ hyd and so on. Then iff only cse is available at any of this campuses, u'll be offered cse dere. However @ 257, u can hope cse only @ hyd.

If u don't have any particular interests, go for chem (mtech) @ delhi or mumbai or even kanpur for better jobs...chill lyf.

If u wanna go do MBA after graduation, do anything @ any iit.

If u don't have any big affinity for the top 5 iits, go for elec at roorkee.
