a uniform chain of length l and mass m is resting on a smooth table. one-third of its lenght is hanging vertically down over the table. the amount of work required to pull the hanging part back to the table is
1)mgl / 3
2)mgl / 6
3)mgl / 9
4)mgl /18

hi trisha the rules are as follows............
1) the longest chain rule
2) lowest sum rule
3) if diff substitution groups are present, it is indicated as di, tri, etc.........
i think you know all these..............but when a functional group is present in a molecule..the numbering of chain must start from terminal functional group carbon present
i.e the functional group should get the least number.........
i hope you understood this...........pls tell me if i am wrong.........
