But you should definitely consider BITS.It is at par with IITs.

Cuz,i was told that the admn of last year went till 38k AIR in 2nd Counsellin....

many of my friends have ranks in 800s(state)...they still feel that they have a chance in DAIICT...Hows tht possible?
But Guys,I have a doubt......for ppl in Gujarat,do they take state rank or for them also, they take all India rank??

Listen friend.....U shall always find help...dont despair......now,as for ur situation...which exams have u given apart from JEE and AIEEE?....Have u applied to any private colleges?.........If yes, then go there if u find the branch u are looking for..........If u have applied only to colleges under AIEEE and the IITs,then well,a drop is ur only option......If u have given ur state CET,try to secure an admn in any local college, and prepare for JEE/AIEEE again, during ur first year there....U can also go to kota, and take a clean drop....however,seeing ur present scenario,i would advise u to take an admn in some college and THEN try for JEE,so just in case(god forbid!) u didnt make it,u are nt completely lost.............Dont Lose Confidence in urself!.....IIT or even any NIT is not the only road to success......do best, whatever u do!....Just fight On!
However, one must note, that the Institute stays for only 4 years, while ur branch decides ur future life....If u dont like ,say Production Engg.,then u will nt be successful in it even later in life, whether u hav done it from IIT or nt.......!
Are U in Gujarat?....If nt,it will be difficult!
I have personally seen and heard many cases of the above mentioned situation on GoIIT and outside...even if there was an error,we cant do anything about it....It is maddeningly frustrating and infuriating, but thats that!... :|
Please Do NOT use GoIIT for earning money by refferal clicks/views on ur Blog or whatever it is.....U are cheating People by declaring urself in some international comp. which doesnt exist. ......Moderators Pls review and Delete this thread..

Though NITs are far better than Manipal and the other Private colleges around, but manipal's Mech Program has been rated 3rd in the Country.... ...again,whenever u are considering ur career, dont look at the institution as a name ,look at the Departments U are interested in...!!!.....this is a big mistake ppl make...they look at the institute as a whole, feel good abt it,take admn, only to find that the department they are a part of has poor faculty,or the lack of it,etc..but in general the institute is well reckoned in society.........and remember, its always Branch over Institute!....If u specifically want say,Automobile Engg, then go to the Institutes who offer the course....dont go the other way,i.e selecting an Institute based on its overall reputation, and then selecting the best course ur marx can get u !
See,here for most ppl,the marx make the choice of branch.. :)....But if u are nt one of them...Take wht u are interested in...wht u would like doing for a good portion of ur life....Money wise...Its Mech that scores...but if u are passionate about Ocean Engg. Then thts where u shld go,irrespective of how "safe" or "Conventional" or "stable" a career choice Mech,or for that matter any other branch is....... ...Then...among Btech and MTech...If u plan to pursue higher education abroad or say,do an MBA after Btech and then take a Job...then its BTech........else if u are inclined toward research and really like ur subject then MTech is the better of the two...after MTech with no exp whtsoever....Job opportunites shall be reduced...but research is always an option........u can also consider doing Btech here and later an MS from US or similar....there are scholarships also available for such plans...
But then again...I wuldnt advise u to go for a course in IT or Computers....
Are u in the Gujarat State?....if nt...then its difficult....
