Hey You are worrying about 54/540? I got just 8 marks overall on 540 . That didn't stop me from writing the escape velocity test well I scored well and now, I am looking forward to the other tests as well Just don't let yourself down and have self-confidence.

In some of the mechanisms, the formation of the carbocation or carbanion is the slow step. This is of course, a very generalised statement. For instance, in markonikaw addition, formation of carbocation is the slowest step and hence the rate determining step.
