to check the correctness of the answer, see that as charge density on the sheet tends to infite in magnitude, theta tends to 90 degrees.

it is proportional to tan theta but the result is more accurate if the charged ball is at a large distance from the charged sheet

In a triangle ABC: a,b and A are given and c1 and c2 are two values of the third side c.

Prove that the sum of the ares of the two triangles with sides a,b,c1 and a,b,c2 is

(1/2)(b^2)sin2A

for 1 st eqn D<0

so roots are imaginary

so both the roots of the equations are common

so d/a = e/b = f/c

so ans = (a),(b),(c)

while selecting one item out of multiple items that are all identcal we have only 1 way of selection.

It is obvious that their positions must be different.

The correct answer must be 1because we are selecting 1 item, not 1 position.

So,

ways to select 1 black square are = 1,

 and to clear your doubt,

ways to select 1 position out of 32 valid positions = 32C1 = 32.
