Hey adiniv!
Well, my friend just got to know his results on june 10th, and as the counselling hasn't started, I don't know what branch he would get. But I am sure that you'll get a very good branch, as not many students take sastra (based on board marks). AIEEE fills its seats to a good extent. There will be quite a lot of dropouts, so you will get a good branch there, though I dont know if you will get mechanical there, as it is the most popular branch there.

Well, this year, one of my friends got a rank of 3900, and was called for counselling. Another friend of mine got a rank of 4002 and wasnt called for counselling. So I think the cut off must be around 400th rank. Hope that clears your query. I got rank of 1013, and dunno if I'll get ece branch.

Well, You don't need to worry about air in aieee, as long as your state rank is decent enough and provided you have been selected for central counselling. What's your state rank? If its under 900, you should make it to some NIT.

your cut off would be maths score + (physics + chemystry scores)/2
This will be out of 200. In your case, your cut off would be :
97 + (90+89)/2
= 97+(179)/2
= 97+89.5
= 186.5
Thus, your cut off out of 200 for annauniversity is 186.5. Unless you have some caste reserveation, you might not be able to make it to anna university, as you generally needa cut off of about 190+.
However, you will definitely get some very goodcollege under anna university. Moreover, the number of people who have more cut off marks than you ( Taking into account only those students from tn state board) are 12000. So you'r rank is approximately 12000 as per ann university common merit list.

If you want to enjoy life all the time, then I'm sorry, you will neva be able to prosper. in any college, you will have to work a bit to move ahead of others in life. Of course, you can keep aside some time for enjoyment, but you should'nt waste a lot of time on the same.
Ofcourse, everyone enjoys their college life, and I can guarantee you that it won't be as tedious as it is right now (I got this info from my friends who are in college right now)

Dude, if you are interested in chemical engineering, then there are 2 very good colleges I know which Do not take any capitation fees, all you have to pay is 70k per annum. They are St Josephs(One of the top colleges in chennai) and SRM (ranked 60th in India).

You can try for SASTRA as your board marks are quite good. It is a very good college, very well known for its mechanical branch. Last date for receiving applications is June 9th, so hurry up!

Your problem seems to be quite complicated dude. Since the max no of attempts for JEE is 2, I don't think you can get into IIT ever again. Well, instead of joining some coaching institute (most of the coaching institutes only care for money, except a few which care for their students) you should have taken up self study for aieee. For aieee, no coaching is required in my opinion.
From here on, I don't exactly know what you can do. Have you tried writing bitsat as well? How well did your boards go? If your board percentage was high, then you can get admission in SASTRA, which is a very good college. Moreover, you can also try for anna university and its affiliated colleges through your board marks. There are quite a few colleges which give admission through aieee marks.
SRM college in Chennai is also a good place to study. You can give their entrance (Very easy), and pursue your studies there. Don't lose hope, there's still along way to go for you I think.
Best of luck!
