sir, actually i bought a book named"differential calculus for competitions"by shanti narayan and pk mittal(S.CHAND AND COMPANY).but there is no hologram on it as it is there in other books of this publication.so,i doubt the authenticity of the book.could you please sent me details of the book of calculus by shantinarayan which everyone refers to as the best on your site.is the book i have bought the same?kindly sent me an answer soon.

sir, a penguin dives from a uniform board that is hinged at the left and attached to a spring at the right.the board has a length L=2m and mass m=12 kg,spring constant k=1300N/m.when the penguin dives, it leaves the board and spring oscillating with a small amplitude.assume board is stiff enough not to band.find the period T of the oscillations. i wanted to know why the torque about the hinge due to the weight of the board is not taken into account.

dear experts, i am a class 11 student.i study in a cbse school where teachers only focus on 12 cbse board.but i want to concentrate on iit .there are also no good coaching institutes here in my city(cuttack in orissa).so i have not joined any.many of my friends have joined chaitanya in vizag.i too want to go there and study for at least one academic year 2007-2008 but my parents are not willing to send me alone.i feel helpless.please tell me honestly "is it mandatory to join a coaching institute to get a good rank in iit".can't we study ourselves,follow good books,ask doubts on sites like this one and get a good rank in iit.if not, tell me honestly.in class10,i studied myself and secured 97.6%.cant i repeat my performance in iit?kindly tell me how do i go about my studies from now?please reply soon. the sooner the better.
