but why does the conductor protect the cavity ?

i mean electric field lines goes through the cavity and hence charge must be present on the walls of cavity ...

 use kirchoff's law ...
battery or batteries would be connected to the capacitor and you just have to frame equation keeping in mind the positive and negative plates ....

Irodov is not meant for JEE .. but sure solving it makes our concepts clear . Can do selective questions from irodov but HCV is a must...Maron far better tha ML ...
