well why not a and b both as in accordance with conservation of energy. If surface energy would decrease then energy will be evolved.

what vash is saying will ony give the horizontal  component  of the  normal force exerted by wedge on the block .  vertical  force  exerted  by wedge will  be equal  to  mg.  Net  resultant  of  these  two  forces will be mg sec

the equilibrium of forces is dependent on your frame of reference. in the frame of another particle moving alongwith the block the block will be in equilibrium in radial direction.

well torque is not only limited to axis but it can also be taken about a point. But our studies are limited to only one way rotation therefore we consider torque about an axis. for vish001, yes u r correct in saying that a necessary pseudo force must be applied if we are changing the axis of rotation until the new frame chosen is itself accl. in the eg which u gave the negative charge will be accl. thus pseudo force must be considered there to get same angular accl.

without the air resistance they would have reached the same height as the accl. of both would have been equal to g(in downward direction).
but in this case in addition to gravitational force resistive force is also acting which is equal in magn. for both thus as the mass of A is greater therefore its accl. would be lesser than that of B in downward direction. thus A will go higher than B

i think so harry misunderstood my statement as pav^2 represents the change in momentum of the mass flowing out per second.
mass flowing out = pav
velocity of that mass = v

find the velocity of water flowing out per second and use it to get the change in momentum in horizontal direction of the amt. of water flowing out per second. this will give the horizontal component of the force acting.

i think so pearlypeeble is wrong in stating that the electron in second case will jump to the second level but it will come out as the energy is more than its ionisation energy.

angular velocity is frame dependent but for a rigid body angular velocity of any point on that body is same as viewed from every other point on that body

u can eliminate accl. by resolving forces acting along the inclined plane
