Singapore gets nearly twice the number of tourists in a year than India does. In fact, if you make even a brief study of world tourism trends and data, you'll learn that, for all its cultural and geographical diversity, India hardly attracts any tourists.

Singapore - 7.3 million a year (2006)
India - 4.4 million a year (2006)
France - 79.1 million a year (2006) (yes, that's seventy-nine!)

Going by the figures, foreigns don't seem to know much about India's 'unity in diversity', a phrase that is bandied around as the ultimate proof of India's cultural richness.

@ LAMPARD

A seventeen-year-old cannot be a politician! Maybe you've grown used to seeing Internet English. Yes, my language was a bit formal, and probably that is what made it sound like that of a politician.

And, yes, spideyunlimited is absolutely right - we're heading towards a culture-less, homogenized world.

The world is becoming an increasingly homogenized place. It's an increasingly Americanized world - and that's how it is going to stay as long as America calls the shots. The day China, or any other countryfor that matter, takes over, the world will change its ways to follow the leader. That's human nature and no amount of concern for one's 'culture' can reverse the trend. Thinking of culture as something static and unchangeable is what makes people so concerned about their culture. Culture is always in a state of flux; some changes might be good, others might be bad. A society learns with time what's good and what's bad. But the kind of utopian conception of Indian Culture that the author of the article espouses only serves to show her ignorance of the glaring shortcomings of the nation's cultural heritage.

And what, my dear friend, do you define as 'Indian Culture'?

"Today the other country people are intrested in our culture and cultural activities but our people are intrested in their culture and their activities."

Why should only people from other countries be interested in what you see as Indian Culture? Other countries and other people are not useless pieces of crap for God's sake. Intelligence, goodness and civilisation are not the prerogatives of Indian Culture. We have a lesson or two to learn from other countries and other 'cultures'. Please don't behave like a hopeless chauvinist.

Hello!

It may be possible that you installed too many add-ons. Mozilla Firefox is a big memory hog and the more the add-ons, the bigger and bulkier it's going to become. Must be taxing your computer's resources too much. There are two ways to overcome the problem.

# 1 - Close Mozilla Firefox. Go to Start > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox > Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode).

Disable all your add-ons and then see if it helps. If it doesn't, then there's the second method.

# 2 - Simply re-install Mozilla Firefox.

If none of these works, you could post your query on a website called mozillaline.com. The people there will surely be able to fix the problem for you!

Hope this helped!

Hello!

@ anshul_2009

Rapidshare is a premium website that allows users to download and upload stuff for free as well, but, of course, restrictions apply. And one of the restrictions is that you can download stuff after certain intervals of time only. You must have downloaded something before and hence it asked you to wait a while before downloading again. Or it could be that you had some problem downloading and tried to download the book again. But, sorry, that failed download is counted as a download and so, being a free user, you had to wait.

Just leave the screen open for whtever time period it says and it will become downloadable again. Don't refresh the page. Just wait.

Hope this helped!

Hello!

I am going to tell you about a strategy about how not to lose focus even after all this. People may disagree, but you may as well try.

Think of the worst thing that could happen. You'll fail, waste a year and all this along with the loss of respect and disappointment for your parents. Think of all this. Imagine yourseelf in such a scene feeling as sick as a dog where your parents have just learned that you've failed. Think of yourself as the worst person to have defiled the earth.

Now, think of life after that. Does it end wi
th Class 12? No. You study one more year, pass with good marks and life is normal and quiet again. Things wll be bad only temporarily. Nothing is as bad as it might seem, believe me.

Keep your sense of humour alive. Take it for granted that you've failed in physics and now want to save face by not failing in all the other exams! Simple as that!

If you surrender to fate, you'll be able to work without worrying about something happening because you've trained your mind to believe that it has already happened. Remember what Krishna said about working without worrying about the results.

Take my advice only as a last recourse. Try out other ways first. If all else fails, this is your best bet at survival! Believe me, you are not as worse off as you think you are. You'll fight your way back, everyone does!

Best of luck!

That's very discouraging...........as if everything depended on whether you are an IItian or not........must have been copied from some coaching institute's website..........people may like it............but I think it's a very bad way to look at things..........very negative in its outlook..............how about thinking of the drop year as the biggest learning curve your life when you overcome your demons.........and focus on what you want with all that pressure to cpe with...........come to think of it; a person may come out stronger and more refined than what they would have been had they tasted success in their first attempt.........failure may hit you any time.........better if it does so earlier in life.......isn't it?

Hello!

I am appearing for my Class 12 CBSE boards right now, so my experince should be of some value! My class teacher kept warning me from the very first month that he would not allow me to sit in the exams if my attendance fell short of the requisite 75%. Though I tried to be regular, old habits die hard! And my parents were sent a couple of letters notifying them about my attandence and the dire consequeces that would befall me were I to continue like that. My parents would become alert whenever such a letter was received, but each time I managed to convince them that the school authorities were 'paper tigers' and wouldn't dare act so nastily. All my classmates religiously maintained an above 75% attendance all through the year. And, here I am, taking my boards with a below 50% attendance to flaunt! It's all the more enjoyable as I can tease my friends endlessly about how they were fooled by the class teacher into surrendering before this utterly useless tenet (at least in our case) of institutionalised education!

Even so, you should keep in mind that some teachers can be really mean and nasty if you give them reason enough!
