Yes , absolutely true that he might not get CS.But about 40 out of 160 MSc hons students get CS , another 40 get EEE and 40 EnI and rest get Mech(25) and Chemical(15).

So , getting CS/EEE/EnI is not at all difficult at BPGC.

Anyways , I am sure you must have had your reasons for choosing NSIT over BPGC. We respect that.
But no one can say "MSc at BPGC is crap" just like that.

Look boss , I am not against NSIT , I was just saying that even MSc Hons at BPGC would be worth considering.

The reason why we are on this forum , is cuz most aspirants don't have detailed info about BPPC , let alone BPGC.

LOL , we aren't piggy-backing , we are BITSians , as "PURE" as those from Pilani.We have every right to the BITS Pilani legacy , though we are in a different campus.

MSc Hons Course gets you an assured BE Dual , thats the only reason why I am saying that even MSc at BITS is a good option .Otherwise , I wouldn't have advised him to take it , even if it was in an IIT(where you don't get a BE Dual).
Do you know about this Dual degree scheme?

Tell me , you say that BPGC is nowhere close , but why?What do you know about BPGC?Do you know of BPGC's foreign univ offers , placements , faculty , technical fest etc etc?How are you making this statement?

Anyways , as I have said earlier , if you are interested in CSE and keen on that only , then take NSIT.At BITS , with an MSc Hons , you could get some other BE also.So a bit of a risk here.
If not , then even BITS MSc Hons is a good choice.

Its vacation time and we are free to help the aspirants.No one is "marketing" BPGC , rather providing info.

NSIT and DCE are great colleges , but why do you feel that BPGC is nowhere near?

As far as help is concerned , its very imp.About a yr back in the Goa Campus, the 1st placements were going to start and the scene looked bad.There was a huge uproar among students , saying that hardly any good companies were coming etc etc.

Basically the BITS admin(in Goa and Pilani) thought that BITS Tag would be enuf , so they didn't bother too much.Unfortunately , a lot of companies had no idea about the Goa campus.But after the students protests , Pilani started vouching for the Goa campus , telling companies about the same BITSAT exam/faculty/univ etc etc.That did bring a lot of good companies to our campus.And also made sure that for PS2 , the companies wouldn't mind having the Goa Campus students along with Pilani students.
And becuz of this , even Hyd campus future is secure , cuz now the recruiters understand what exactly are the new campuses like.

Depends on the person.Personally I'd not mind the extra degree.

The new IITs should be satellite campuses of their mentor IITs , rather than being separate Univs.
Think of the benefits the new IIT will get in terms of :

1)Industry linkages
2)Alumni Support:Currently the alumni assoc.s of all IIT are separate , except for Pan-IIT.
3)MoUs with foreign univs , new IITs will have to start all over again.
4)Placement Cell help
5)Projects under faculty of the Mentor IITs

No its hardly there.Seniors on Orkut always try to scare the juniors.

If you like the VMC material , would suggest you solve from there.

I used to solve solved examples from whatever material I had(try by myself first , then see if I was getting stuck)

As for theory , I always used a good textbook , rather than coaching material.Apart from NCERT 11th and 12th , I mainly used HCV , OP Agg , and ML Khanna

You guys are forgetting the PS2 , by which students of the Goa Campus have got into the above companies.
Schlum is coming this yr , they said it during their workshop during Goa Campus techfest QUARK.

You won't miss out on a single course.Some courses are held in both sems.2nd sem admission students have some courses with the normal BE guys , others they do with their juniors.Don't worry , it has never been a prob for any1.And placements/PS etc are held in both semesters

Well , many NITs have got walk-in admssions after the AIEEE counsellings , students might have pref there.
Of course this was earlier when Goa Campus was not fully established.Not many ppl leave midsem like that now.

Which other MScs are there in Hyd?I mean if you get InfoSys or Finance or Engg Tech , take them.They are quite good.
But as for gen studies , I'd not recomm it.

Guess they'd need to make travel plans...
