Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Mechanics -> STATEMENT 1: in pure rolling motion net work done by friction is ZERO -> Go to message
This Post 0 points    (Olaaa!! Perrrfect answer.   in 0 votes )   [?]

ya it should be a

consider a body rolling down an inclined plane

friction acts in upard direction at point of contct

consider only translational motion find work done by f (its negative , as it tries to stop the translational motion0

and work done in ROTATION (its + as friction tries to incr the rotational velocity of the body)

hence net work is 0

Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Mechanics -> Can ne1 xplain me the lift on a plane wing(especially y the speed of air is higher above)? -> Go to message
This Post 10 points    (Olaaa!! Perrrfect answer.   in 2 votes )   [?]

wings are curved upside

so there is more distance to travel for air on upper side then on lower side and hence speed on upper side is more

which means less pressure on upper side and hence the lift

infact plane has provision to change the orientation of curve and hence can change orientation of lift

ya u can definitely apply the equations

in fact its the only means bu which u can solve

by free body diagram u get that result only

and since we have to calculate time we cant use work enegy concepts

ans 1
option a,b,c are correct
a- u know that distance is always greater than displacement
therefore a is correct
b- Idv/dtI is modulus of acceleration and IdvI/dt is rate of change of
speed . the given cond is true in uniform circular motion
c- a particle in circular motion after one rotation has average
velocity 0 but inst velocity is never zero
d- for zero average velocity particle shud come back to initial point
and in straight line motion it means that particle have to reverse its
direction of motion .at the point of reversal its inst velocity will be 0
