It is a case of a baton .
They both move about their center of mass

Consider M to be at the origin(0,0)
and m to be at(L,0).

Find C.m and then solve.(2 star systems)

For special case of M>>m
we solve normally as for
earth around sun

Auroras are produced by the collision of charged particles, mostly electrons but also protons and heavier particles, from the magnetosphere, with atoms and molecules of the Earth's upper atmosphere.
Most originate from the sun and arrive at the vicinity of earth in the relatively low-energy solar wind.
When the trapped magnetic field of the solar wind is favourably oriented (principally southwards) it reconnects with that of the earth and solar particles then enter the magnetosphere and are swept to the magnetotail. Further magnetic reconnection accelerates the particles towards earth.

For a better picture go to:

Some days back there was a special episode on discovery on earth's magnetism. There u cud have easily visualized the effects.

The main aim behind joining these is not learning few problems or questions.
Rather it's a simulation of real xam and helps u develop a strategy for IITJEE.
Again a student sittin in IITJEE xam for 1st time will be more nervous than one
previosly appeared similar tests.
Although assessment is also a point. If u get -12 marks den it'll force u to study more.So no harm done.

we need P(hit twice or more)>0.99
So P(hit never)+P(hit once)<0.01

=> 0.5n + n(0.5) < 0.01

We get n=10(min. value)

Hope u get me.
