A certain hydrocarbon A was found to contain 85.7% carbon, 14.3% Hydrogen. This compound consumes 1 moar equivalent of H to give a saturated hydrocarbon B. 1 gm of A just decolourised 38.05 gm of a 5% solution(by weight), of bromine in CCl4. Compound A on oxidation with hot conc. KMnO4 gave compound C(Ketone) and acetic acid. Identify the srtuctures of A, B, and C.

An unsaturated and unbranched compound A(C5H4O , containing only double bonds) doesnot exhibit any stereoisomerism. 1 mole of A on ozonolysis givesa gas B, 2 carboxylic acids C & D. All 3 products B, C & D are converted to a poisonous oxide of carbon through a series of Reactions. This oxide is estimated by I2O5 wherein the liberated iodine is found to require 16/5 moles of hypo. Identify the structure of A.
