yaar the function will be continous
but at (0,0) there will be a sharp turn in the combined curve of the two drawn
and differentiabilty is not defined for sharp points on a curve
so it will not be differentiable at the origin

hope i m not minding u but pls see this also ...... ur second reply was

see by ur mtd cases r.....
case 1

f(1)= 2
f(1)=3
f(1)=4
f(1)=5


but we want
cases to be

f(1)=sumthin
f(2)=sumthin
;
;
f(5)=sumthin...
this is the difference....

yaar ... this sumthing mean ???? the range is { 1 , 2 , 3 ,4 ,5 } and the co domain is also { 1 ,2 ,3 ,4 ,5 } and the function is given as onto ...so range is equal to co domain
so f(1) has to be either of 2 , 3 ,4 ,5 and similariyl for others also ?
please correct mee

let a function be defined as f : { 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 }  { 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 }
then the number of ways in which f ( i )  i  is ???
 
i m getting the answer as 20 ( 5C 1 X  4 )
 
but the answer given is 44 .... by using the dearrangement forumula we are getting the answer as 44 ....... but what';s wrong in my logic ? please do reply !
