well only transverse waves can be polarised
consider a polariser,i.e, a crystal of quartz for eg which can polarise light and a analyser which is used to detect polarised light
if a light wave passes through polariser then only those waves which r parallel to the axis of polariser can pass through it and if the analyser is placed say perpendicular to axis of polariser then no wave can pass through it
again as i said that only transverse wave can b polarised and this leads to the conclusion that light waves are transverse waves also

if u want to stick to it then it is not necessary to do all d concept 4 its too high from JEEs point of view

in my opinion d reaction is not possible
as all have pointed out that if at all d reaction exist d attack should b in the middle ring
BUT now ph group is o,p directing and o position wid respect to one ph is m position wid respect 2 other
ANother reason is also the sterical hinderence in the middle ring

i dont think that u should refer morrisson and boyd because it is vast buk the concepts never end in dere
on contrary i would suggest u to refer normal books like arihant and JPNP and write d important reaction on a buk or paper and refer only 2 those notes
It has worked out 4 me u can try it out and see if it does 4 u too

i have heard P Bahudur is the ultimate book for physical chem
also d problems require quite good understanding of subject and r quite deep so b careful and know where 2 stop the chapter coz JEE does not require as much understanding as given in the book
