cos is defined only for real numbers. cosine of complex numbers doesnt exist. I think its cos arg z
if thats the case, z = log( 2 - root 3) e^ i*pi/2
hence, cos arg z = 0
check your queation once again.

it depends on the refractive index of the material of the lens. If RI of the lens< RI of water, the nature of the lens is inverted. in the sense, convex becomes concave. If RI> water, focal length decreases.

assuming that the plane above the string in d diagram is rigid and of and area of at least pi. L^2, , the max height is L... the bob's gonna hit the ceiling...

dv/dt = vdv/rd@ = gsin@

integrating with proper limits, we get

v^2 = Vo^2 - 2gr(cos@ -1)  ...................................(1)

when the block leaves the surface, centrifugal force = normal force.

C.F = mV^2/r

NF = mgcos@

from (1),

gcos@ = Vo^2/r - 2g(cos@-1)

but Vo = .5 ( gr)^.5

therefore,

3gcos@ = 1/4g + 2g

3gcos@ = 9/4

or cos @ = 3/4

@ = 41.4 degrees

yea..you are right there.. wavelength = c/ freq. wavelength..BECAUSE speed decreases and freq is constant. Mind you..we can be sure that W.L decreases only because c decreases and f is constant..

it must be 4.9379 as there is only one normal that is real. so that will correspond to only one point...i.e y = 5 - 5/ 83
