Why that is Over 20 board toppers every year opt for BITS Pilani and not IITs?

do solve previous year papers from library...

these are the course books--

1) Physics 1-- Kleppener exercise questions will b sufficient

--HJ Pain for waves.. get its solution manual pdf from net or from Lan / DC in BITS

2) Maths -1--- Calculus thomas finney .. youll find its sol manual in LAN/Dc...

--- Lecture slides will be very nice .. explanatory with solved eg.. Maths 1 is the easiest 1 yr course

3)Chemistry 1-- PW Atkins Solve its exercise questions n previous papers thats all.. it is also not a tuf course

4)Thermodynamics-- Bornakke n sontagg wiley.. sol manual is available in pdf format in bits so dont worry..

5) Biology--- Attend all the lectures otherwise it will be very tuff to get an A in bio..

6 Workshop Practice-- Questions come from reference book whose name will be mentioned in The course handout which will be given to u in 1st class of the course... i dont remember the name ryt now.. nd if u attend lectures it will b useful

FIRST SEMESTER---- Biology n Workshop Practice are the only 2 course whose lectures shoulnot be missed... other courses can be easily managed without lectures

" bits is pvt insti- so of course better facilities. "------ Whoever said this is ignorant of the actual conditions in pilani....

go for BHU without any doubt.... its a 100 year old institute and more famous than Pilani... and Yess IITJEE is the better criteria for selecting capable students than BITSAT which is not even comparable to JEE... why you want to waste your jee rank????

nd yess BHU placements r far better than pilani which is in remote location where sometimes compnies dont even care to come bcoz of ZERO facilites

1) No quality hotel (VFAST Hostel accomodates those company officials)

2) Pilani is a smaller place than varanasi...

and keep this in mind... People still think that most bitsians couldnot clear JEE n thats the reason they r in BITS even tho' this notion is fast changing...

IIT tag will help u in gettin MS outside... tho there is not ne prob fer bitsians fer the same but still if ur targettin MS go to IIT....

BITS placement is also not awesome ryt now tho conditions will improve in future...

Leavin IIT blow 2000 rank is NOT ALL JUDICIOUS coz the frenz who r suggestin u to go to bits myt laugh on u wen u actually reach there n observe BITS urself.. this happened with few of my frenz who left jee ranks of about 2000 to get CSE/EEE here....

take IIT fer sure...

many students leave pilani after the completion of their 1st yr fer iit at ranks even at 2800 .. i knw a guy of my batch who tuk IIT D Textile in his 2nd attempt leavin BITS pilani pilani CSE.... He said he wud try fer branch transfer... so u can try fer the same in IIT>....

1)thats bcoz board toppers dont prepare fer JEE...

2) many board toppers hav CG b'low 6...(i knw 7 of them )

3) only 3/4 board toppers on an average get CG over 8..

its very difficult fer them to score here in pilani as they nevr studied JEE level stuff.. only 3or 4 out of 20 survive with a decent CG...

So dont b under any illusion that the board toppers r genius... tho few of them are..

Why Should u choose Bits Pilani Pilani??

Reason 1: Presence Of Ceeri (Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute) which is located ajdacent to BITS campus... lots of great scientists to work with... u can take Study Oriented Project( 3 unit course in lieu of an elective at pilani) .. few ppl myt knw this..

Reason 2: Pollution free environment..

reason 3: Many electives offered (more than goa / hyd)

Reason 4:LAN (DC) service one of the best in the country... terabyts of useful stuff available...

Nevertheless ill still suggest not 2 compromise with ur stream to get pilani... YOU WILL regret later on...

final decision tho is absolutely urs.. my best wishes to all the aspirants...

i nevr said goa/hyd r inferior ... as u can see in my posts m callin pilani inferior instead in frnt of these 2 campuses n if not now then eventually will bcum inferior ...... goa/ hyd guys r very lucky in enjoin gud life both inside n putside campus... :):)

they shud clearly mention in their website bout this degree thing ... wats the point in telling this fact in Orientation when students have already filled the preference order form n hav got their streams.. wat can they do after the orientation programme..

i sympathise with those guys in pilani havin taken chem/civil at 320 wen they cud hav got cse at goa n later on profs teliin them that they shud hav studied harder 2 get Mechanical n its their fault to get chem at pilani.... i cant help but laugh about this incident wen my frnd told me this....

pilani cut offs r high coz ppl r not aware of these facts... the main being the system of same degree to all campuses...

so choose bettr stream at ne campus... dont thnk that pilani is better than oder campuses... best placements in pilani r frm CSE>MECH>EEE...

chem n civil have bleak prospects in terms of placements in pilani...

if ne1 wants 2 knw bout the true facts bout pilani (both gud n bad ) nudge me....

@Sushobhan Sen thats wat im tryin 2 say dat wen bettr livin conditions r bein provided at GOA/HYD campus along wid the BETTER BRANCHes then y shud one go to pilani wen he can get the same degree at oder 2 campuses..

pls dont say that pilnai ha s bettr faculty coz many profs hav left for goa n hyd campus fer better posts...

eee profs were once best in the country but this cant b said ryt now coz EEE placements r inferior 2 CSE n MECH in pilani...

chem/civil r very risky branches in pilani ... thnk 2ice b4 opting fer them... choose bettr stream at other BITS campus DONT RUSH FER PILANI campus just fer the sake that it is OLD... only if its nearer 2 ur hometown go fer it or if u get CSE/EEE/MECH (only these 3)...

@ phodphad did u tell him that BITS pilani too has many teachers who r doing ME at pilani n most of them come frm local state colleges at least NITS r hiring those who hav BTECH degree frm NITs.. n we all knw how competent those MEites r except 1-2 who r really vgud... Most of the students dont attend those MEites classes.. coz BITS has 0% attendance requirement

i my opinion if bits hires BITS' BE holders as teachers then it wud be f9.....

2)if u like programmin then choose NIT trichy CSE...

yea ur ryt power cuts dont happen often... only in SUMMERS for only 3-4 or at times 5 hrs a day...

power was cut a nyt b4 EEE/ENI ppl's Microprocessor paper for 2 hrs...

there was no water suppy for 30 hrs on 28-29th april in SHANKAR Bhawan on our MT2 comprehensive exam....

i knw majority of ppl includin myself n blive me none f them r happy wid the campus... tho we r happy bout our frenz out there...

EEE/ENI have the sadist faculty ... wen u tell ppl in pilani that u left IIT chem/civil fer bits mech they laugh on u...

ppl left pilani at 2800 ranks last yr in their 2nd attempt in jee...

@BITS BITS , there isnt ne compulsion 2 include ur campus name in ur biodata u can always hide it like u can hide ur dual degree in interviews outside campus....

the fact remains : gettin a BHU/IIT tag is MUCH DIFFICULT than gettin a BITS tag... no 1 wud deny this... its difficult 2 get BHU mech than BITS Mech... BITSAT is purely LUCK Based exam wid NO CREDIBILITY or success value... u gotta be lucky n not NECESSARILY intelligent 2 enter BITS n thats the truth....

and mind u im from pilani n i knw wat im saying ....

dont even think of pilani CHEM it is a very bad course keeping in mind the placements in pilani..

even pilani profs tell the chem students that they shud hav studied more 2 get MECH wich is bettr...

take mech at goa/cse /eee at goa coz ull get the same degree as the pilani guys.. no mention of ur campus name in ur degree certificate..coz university is same BITS pilani...

my rumie left iit / bhu at 2201 and i left bhu electronics and we both regret our decision of joinin pilani...

BHU electrical/mechanical is bettr than BITS mech coz of

facilities at pilani r worse than the other campuses....

1) electricity cuts

2)extreme climate

3)faculty is not bettr than the other 2 campuses

4)one can easily get cse at goa at the expense of mech in pilani.

5)placements at pilani r not bettr than goa its almost equivalent..

6) in addition 30 yr old fans in rums...

except that EEE lab at pilani valued in crores wat else is there at pilani...

if ne1 can tell me...

Degree is same there is no mention of the campus name in ur certificate.. coz university is same Bits pilani...
