Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Mechanics -> what is the work done by friction when a body rolls down an inclined plane without pure rolling? -> Go to message

its zero because no displacement of point of application of force(torque) and here point means point of contact whic just rolls and friction acts at other point then and also u can say no dissipative energy(heat here) and hence no work of friction (this is only for pure rolling)
Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Mechanics -> gravitational potential is the amount of work done in bringing a unit mass body without acceleration -> Go to message

answer is in ur question itself na then where did the work go? is it vanished no it just went as potential energy of the system simple

Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Mechanics -> Can we apply torque equation at point of contact if body is not rolling? Why or why not? -> Go to message
This Post 5 points    (Olaaa!! Perrrfect answer.   in 1 votes )   [?]
u mean if the body is slipping then t=i alpha will be 0 ar other number and it would be meaning less and if u r trying for equilibrium then for rotational forces(mean which cause rotation) frictional is the only one as per ur question and it is zero and so t=0 and also if body is slipping we cant apply t=ialpha and finally think we should not or rather cant apply

first of all mechanics shoould be learnt because electricity is related to that and optics, nuclear physics and thermal physics complete hc verma then u can go for other buk but mechanics is must try reading hc verma and arihant
Catalogs Discussion Forums -> Mechanics -> sir please sove tis one : A thin uniform copper rod of length l and mass m rotates uniformly with -> Go to message

think that lasr integration should have r also

and another way is break rod into two parts at l and join them by thread this is hint try it now

its like this let and element of dl choosen at l then its mass is m/l into dl.andwe know tension provides centripetal acceleration therefore t= m/l into dl x lsquared omega squared/l the limit of integration runs from o to l
Catalogs Discussion Forums -> General Physics -> y do two bodies attract each other -> Go to message
This Post 7 points    (Olaaa!! Perrrfect answer.   in 2 votes )   [?]
its not like two wood pieces donot attract each other but the force is very negligible every mass particle even two electrons attract each other but other ofrces dominate and u know the constant in gravitation na it makes the force such a small quantity hence two bodies(not heavenly) stay at rest

transistion state is a high energy state where bond breaking and making occirs where as a reaction intermediate is a species which is produced in starting or any step of reaction and is consumed in other step

pl v given in terms of g i root over 2gh. and final velocity is 2v using kinematics 4vsquared - 2gh= 2 g s ull get the required s
