Hi
You're not alone in your misery, my friend! The JEE-2009 website tells me that my online application form hasn't been received yet at IIT Madras, though I sent it quite a few days back through Speed Post. And I live in Bangalore, from where it doesn't take more than 3 days for an article to be delivered to Chennai.
The Speed Post Tracking System tells me that it was scheduled to be handed to the JEE Office on December 22, but refuses to confirm whether it has been delivered or not.
I have tried many times to get the status of my application form through IVRS, but haven't yet got a response. On top of it, when I ring them up, they just don't pick up the phone!
But I am not as I worried as I should be. Some of my friends were subjected to similar mental tortures last year -- the status of their application forms was updated to 'received' seven days after the deadline was over! They got their acknowledgment cards well in time afterwards.
It seems that JEE organizers haven't been able to deal with online applications this year as well as applicants would have liked them to, as evident from the confusing instructions and now the sluggish tracking of online application forms. But then, the online mode of application for JEE has made its debut this year, so there were bound to be a few glitches!
I am quite sure that my application form has reached the JEE Office, though I still shudder to think that it might not have reached there, after all! I am sure your application form has also been received, and their tracking system will soon be updated to relieve our anxieties.
Good luck!

Hi
You don't need to worry. The JEE brochure clearly states somewhere that the blocks are for your own reference, and their only purpose is to help you fill in the bubbles correctly -- their machines don't read the blocks. I would say that you shouldn't tinker around with the form to rectify what seems like a mistake though it isn't, because if you do, you might end up commiting a mistake.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

A very insightful and useful article, indeed! It should prove to be of great help to IIT aspirants who are at a loss to know wwhere to begin and what to do. Everything required to crack the IIT-JEE is spelt out clearly and some really good, practicable advice has been offered. Rarely does one find a successful person able to offer such useful advice to people seeking to emulate his/her achievement!
Your opinion on how users should use goiit.com so that the website would help them in their preparations and not distract them, is especially praiseworthy. I think the articles section was meant for precisely this kind of stuff, and not the jokes, poems and quotes we get to see instead.
Great job!

Hi
Firstly, don't hit the panic button so very early; you have lots of time ahead of you. I can understand that it's quite an ask to juggle coaching studies with what's being taught at school. I know where you are coming from, because I have been there myself. I know how hard-pressed you must be feeling these days. Lack of success, as in your case, can make the situation even worse.
As I see it, you have got two ways to choose from.
A. Convince your parents that attending school is a waste of time and that you would be better off studying on your own at home instead. Support your stand by getting excellent results on school exams. Some parents value performance in school more than how you fare at your coaching classes, which is perfectly justified. Give them a reason to repose their faith in your ability to produce results. And then tell them how the results would only get better if you spent more time studying by yourself rather than fooling around with friends at school.
B. Attend school regularly. Complete all your school work during school time itself. Pay attention to what your school teachers teach, no matter how bad the teaching is - it pays off well in the end. Don't pressure yourself to go into a deep study of each and every topic - if you get the time, then it's well and good; if you don't, then you can always hone your skills later. The idea is to move fast and cover a lot of ground. What it does is that it prevents the student from getting stressed out, and thus optimizes his/her efficiency. Your parents and school teachers would be satisfied, and though you would't be setting the coaching class rankings on fire, you would be doing well enough to keep yourself in the game. Clearly, this is a more rewarding way of doing things. Believe me, you'll always have enough time to push ahead later on. Class 12 will prove to be a lot easier, because you'll have gained some experience by then.
I have seen both these strategies employed successfully. Whatever you choose to do, make sure that you don't give up, or depression will set in, which will severely diminish your chances of making it to the IITs.
Good luck!

Greetings to all!
What I would really like to know is if you are applying / have applied online? Is it easier than applying offline and hassle-free? Last year, I found the online application system for the AIEEE to be quite good and easy. Does the JEE match up, or is it confusing and annoying to apply online? In short, would one be better off applying online rather than offline?
Thanks!
Best wishes!

If only God existed, your 'what if' statements would be worth reading.

I have used all the browsers out there; believe me, I have! And after all the experimentation, I can safely declare that Mozilla Firefox is the best, closely followed by Opera. Safari is good, too. Internet Explorer 7 wouldn't be bad if there wasn't so much competition, but it's lagging behind its competitors as of now.
Mozilla Firefox -15 , Internet Explorer - 0

This is clearly a trick to fool people into giving away their passwords themselves. The given email id 'retrive_pass_tm@yahoo.co.in', ostensibly belonging to the staff at Yahoo!, in fact belongs to this guy.
Here's the catch :
'' STEP 6- On the third line type in the password to YOUR email address (your OWN password). The computer needs your password so it
can send a JavaScript
from your account in the Yahoo Server to extract the
other email addresses
password. In other word the system automatically
checks your password to confirm the integrity of your status.
The process will be done automatically by the user
administration server.'' First, he asks you directly to type out your password, and then he adds some technical jargon so that you would be convinced that this is the handiwork of some generous computer wizard.
Clearly, if you go ahead and do this, this moron will become the owner of your email id. I am sure spidey was referring to the trick sugested by nadeemmoidu, not the topic starter!!!

Hi,
It's not true that one cannot install WMP 11 on a fake copy of Windows. Use Google - you will find lots of step-by-step guides to install WMP 11 by circumventing the validation process.
By the way, there are alternatives which are actually better than WMP 11. You could try VLC Player for watching videos etcetera. For mp3 files, you could take a look at Winamp or JetAudio. They are free and they are good!
You can download all these applications from download.com!
Good luck!

It is called 'All India Senior School Certificate Examination' or 'AISSCE'. This year we took AISSCE 2008.

@ pharic
Would you kindly explain how?
The more I read it, the more ridiculous it sounds.

I don't see any reason why anyone should believe in God, but I have lots of reasons to show that the belief in God has done more harm than good.
Some people claim that those who do not believe in God and mock other's beliefs are simply incapable of understanding a concept that belongs to a higher plane. They may be right, but the the way in which God is perceived by the common man leaves no doubt in my mind that He is nothing more than an 'imaginary buddy' for most people.
But then, whatever floats your boat!

This cannot possibly be a true story - it's more like an urban legend. None of it makes sense really.
