A Vertical cylinder closed at both ends is divided into two parts by a frictionless piston, each part containing one mole of air.At temperature 300K., the volume of the upper part is 4 times that of the lower part. At what temperature will the volume of the upper part be three times that of that of the lower part?

well.........position of a particle can be represented by three coordinates in 3 dimensions(x,y,z), just as you denote a point in the cartesian plane as (1,2) or (2,3) etc

Dear sinjan,

I think here we take time as a reference frame.
Hence we determine the change in the position as the time passes.Hence the part 'in a given time' is relevant here.
Thus if a body changes its position with the time it is said to in motion. But if t=0, or if s=0, then the body is taken to be at rest

Two flasks of equal volume connected by a narrow tube of negligible volume contains 1 mol of hydrogen gas at 300 K and 0.5 atm, One of the flasks is immersed into a thermostat maintained at 400 K, and the other was maintained at 300 K temperature. Determine, the final Pressure, final amount of hydrogen gas in each flask.

Atom is chemically indivisible because on dividing the atom into its constituents- electrons, protons, neutrons etc. it no more remains to be an atom of the same identity, i.e, its chemical properties change.

i.e, chemical properties of an atom with atomic number 3 is different from that of atomic number 2 (here the atom is divided to remove an proton but not an electron, because even after removing an electron , ions form whose properties are similar to that of the atom)

whereas physically it is divisible in its constituents.

Thus an atom(to be more precise an ion) is the smallest particle which cant be further subdivided

Thus Atom is chemically indivisible,but physically divisible

Hope it's clear now

According to Bohrs theory the electronic energy of  H in nth orbit is given by

En=(-21.76*10-19 J)(1/n2)

Calculate the longest wavelength of light that will be needed to cause this transition.

(Ans: 20.5 *10-7m)
