it cannot emit wavelength of higher energy than absorbed one

it may emit wavelength of lower energy

as in sodium , it emits its characteristic yellow lines because it (sodium) absorb that particular wavelength from white light

it is said that these r dark lines in sun spectrum corresponding to the wavelengths absorbed by the gases present in chromosphere .
now this absorbed wavelength (energy) must be reemitted .
where are those emitted wavelengths

see
acc. to cauchy's principle

refractive index=a+b/lambda sq.+c/lambda^4

thus r.i changes with wavelength

the magnetic lines of force always form closed loops because monopoles donot exist.
electrostatic field lines donot form closed loops BUT INDUCED ELECTRIC LINES FORM CLOSED LOOPS
