Now Pratikesh,

I have visited the link you provided. You are absolutely right to say that the problems are not that tough.

Thanks for the links you provided.

Hi Nitish123,

I think that the book of Tata McGraw Hill i.e. Course in IIT Mathematics is very good for beginners. The book of R.D.Sharma is also nice and the Arihant Series is considerably good.
For Organic Chemistry, I suggest you the book of Solomons uploaded in the BOOKS BY FOREIGN AUTHORS post in goiit. Thee book of O.P. Agrawal is very good for organic concepts and for numericals.

Okay then now I am contributing some material to this forum. hope all our goiitian friends like it.

I am posting some of the problems from the topic of Motion along a Straight Line.

Subject
: Physics

Topic : Motion along a Straight line.

Here they are:

[1] The speed of a train increases at a constant rate a (alpha) from zero to 'v' and then remains constant for an interval and finally decreases to zero at a constant rate b (beta). If 'l' is the total distance travelled find the total time taken.

[2] A car 'A' is travelling on a straight level road with a uniform speed of 60 km/hr. It is travelled by another car 'B' which is moving with a speed of 70km/hr. When the distance between them is 2.5 km the car B is accelerated by 20km/hr2 (20 km per hour square). After what distance and time will B catch up with A ???

[3] The two ends of a train moving with a constant acceleration pass a certain point with velocities u and v. What will the velocity of the midpoint of the train when it passes the same point ???

[4] A point traversed half the distance with a velocity vo (v to the subscript zero). The remaining part of the distance was covered with velocity v1 for the half the time and with velocity v2 for the other half of the time. Find the mean velocity of the point averaged over the whole time of the motion.

[5] If a point moving under uniform acceleration describes successive equal distances in the times t1, t2 and t3 then prove 1/t1 - 1/t2 + 1/t3 =
3/t1+t2+t3.

[6] Two points move in the same straight line starting at the same moment from the same point in it. The first moves with a constant velocity u and other moves with a constant acceleration f. During the time that elapses before the second catches the first show that the greatest distance between the particles is u2/2f at the end of time u/f from the start.

[7] A bus is beginning to move with an acceleration of 1 feet/s2. A man who is 40 ft behind the bus on the same line starts running at 9 fee per second to catch the bus. After how many seconds will the man be able to catch the bus ? Explain the two answers.

[8] The displacement x of a particle moving in one dimension under the action of a constant force is related ti the time t by the equation t=root x +3 where x is in metres and t is in the seconds. Find the displacement of the particle when its velocity is zero.

[9] A lift ascends with a constant acceleration a, then with a constant velocity and finally stops under a constant retardation a. If the total distance travelled is S and the total time taken is T, find the duration for which the lift is moving with constant velocity.

[10] Two cars A and B are travelling in the same direction with velocities v1 and v2 respectively. When the distance between them is d, the driverof car behind B applies the brakes causing retardation b(beta). Show that to prevent the collison it is necessary that b(beta) > (v1-v2)2/2d.

[11] If a body falling vertically under gravity travels half its total path in the last second of its fall, find the time and height of its fall.

[12] A particle is dropped from the top of a tall cliff and n seconds later another stone is thrown vertically downwards with a velocity u m/s. How far below the second stone overtake the first ???

[13] A parachutist after bailing out falls 50m without friction . When the parachute opens he decelerates downwards with 2m/s2. He reaches the ground with a speed of 3m/s. How long is the parachutist in air ?? At what height did he bail out ??

Dont forget to rate me and i ne 1 wants their answers and solutions please inform me.

Till then contribute to this forum and have a happy time.

Cheers.

I think that we should also mention some sites which contain mock tests and other materials.

Okay now taking the initiative, I would like to recommend a site called
www.swingwind.com . This site is full of online tests for entrance tests and the tests for the companies like Infosys etc.

[I have already stated this site in some other forum of goiit but some ppl may not pay attention to such forums. So, to attract the attention of maximum number of goitians, I decided to state this site again.]

One more site:

www.hellochampion.com

I think that this sie is quite famous among goiitian. I would recommend all our goiitians to become a memver of this site as it contains
many many tests and questions.

One more site :

www.syvum.com

In this site go to the IIT JEE section. There you all will get lots and lot and
lots of questions papers on every subject.

So if you all are interested in contributing to this forum, abhi se lag jao
Munnabhai !!!!!!!!!!!

If any one needs more sites on this subject then please inform me. I will
definitely search and provide you all the necesary materials.

Til then, please please and please start contributing to this forum and ya please dont forget me to rate if you all like the above sites.

Hi Prateekesh,
I like your idea. I think that we all should upload all our questions here on this forum itself. I will tell you the madel namd the company of my scanner in one or two days. Actually , I am also trying to find a scanning software from somewhere.
Anyway,I recommend all our other goiitian friends to contribute to this forum. I this happens we all can have a very huge questionnaire of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Dear Friends,
Fir wahi gisi-piti query likh raha hoon.
I am in Standard 12 and am going to start a new innings for the preparation of IIT JEE 2008. The problem is that whenever I sit to prepare for IIT JEE 2008 my mind goes blank and then I feel bored to study for it. The weakest point is that I am not able to cram the reactions in inorganic chemistry and so I dont have even the basic knowledge of inorganic chemistry.
Now friends, I have the entire set of Brilian Tutorials for the year 1999 except that of mathematics and I am shortly going to put up th questions from it on Physics and Chemistry.
I am also currently subscribed to BT's two year elite course and I am not able to concentrate to study from the modules of BT. I have H.C.Verma and Tata NcGraw Hill's book on mathematics.
So ne 1 please guide me as to how to prepare from BT's modules and other from other factors.
Main apni nayi innings ki opening kis se karoon ???????????????
