let d be the common difference... 14 + 3d = 3 so, d = -11/3 (common difference is -ve) a = 14 + d b = 14 + 2d so, a = 10.33 b = 6.67 im quite sure i think of these answers... i think the answers u gave r wrong

4th term = a+3d & 7th term = a+6d so (a+3d) = 3a & a+6d = 2*(a+2d) + 1 => 3d = 2a => 3d/2 + 6d = 3d + 4d + 1 => 3d/2 - d = 1 => d = 2 so, 2a = 3*2 => a = 3

hey gau_dil, im sorry for not including IITR & IITG in my previous topic... no ill feelings about it da, dont get dissappointed and all... no harm intended of course IITR & IITG are way way above all the colls in india (except for maybe BITS pilani) but they are usually ranked below the other 5 IITs at positions within top 10... so i wanted to know, among the top 5, whats the order... thats all... and gau_dil, are u from IITR? pls do post if so! COMMON ppl the going is getting better... lets gather all the IITians on this site!

okay, this is what i think (i may be wrong - pls dont kill me for it)
so if a person is stationery, the CG of the man + bike system deos not coincide with the CM of the system, so torque due to gravity os produced and we fall...
but while moving, we balance, and the CG & CM (cemtre of mass) of the man + bike system is almost coinciding so negligibly small torque coupled with the momentum we have, we dont fall.
now, if while riding a bike you lean to one side (not just your head, your whole body) KEEPIN THE BIKE STRAIGHT, then a torque develops and we fall.... i think thats why while turning the bike we lean, in order to coincide the system's CG & CM so that we dont fall...
RATE if u r satisfied/ think i am correct...

hey ya, the question is damn simple. a corresponds to 1, b to 2 (ie. occurs 2 times), c to 3 (ie. ocurs 3 times), etc. so, just sum up using summation of natural numbers: n(n+1)/2 = 288 so, on solving, u get approximately 23.5 as the +ve value of n... meaning that the 24th letter is the letter of the alphabet required... (reason why it is 24th letter & not 23rd: see, 1 means 'a' is appearing 1ce, 2 means 'b' is appearing 2ce..... 22 means the 22nd alphabet, that is 'v' is appearing 22 times, 23 means 'w' is appearing 23 times, 24 meany 'x' is appearing 24 times, but any fraction between 23 & 24 means that the letter corresponding to 24 has begun, but 24 of it [meaning 24 x's] has not been completed [so 23.5 means that 'w' is over 23 times & 'x' has begun its count, but only some 12 x's are counted for sum to add upto 288].... hope u got it, if not read again) so, answer is 'x' RATE my efforts...
