A jeweller puts a diamond weighing 5.42g in a box weighing 1.2 kg.Find the total weight of the box and the diamond to correct number of significant figures.I hav a test its urgent plzz help. Ans is 1.2 kg HOW??

a = 1.2 kg b = 5.42g = 0.00542
see its very simple i when we add we get 1.20542 ..but in a only the first decimal figure is significant therefor all the other figure after the second decimal are insignificant. now we have to round off the second decimal figure 0. The digit next to it is 5 n 0 is even ... therefore it is left unaltered . Thus the answer is 1.20 kg.
