you have got good marks and i think you can try one more time....but before you are decided that u want to drop.... do some interrospection... find out how much hard work you can do in an year and how much u need to clear jee.... knowing your potentials as well as drawbacks is most important in life... and they must be considered while taking any major decision.. so be practical... .. if u feel fully confident that its worth a trial... go for it... dont bank on what others suggest.... its u to decide...

Assess yr current status before u take a leap. What was yr AIR in AIEEE ? Say, if it was 40,000 u missed IIT by a wide margin ( 35000 places). U wd need to bridge a wide gulf. Also, check out yr Performance Card of IIT when u receive the same. Suppose u get 70% of cut-off in each subject, u stand a chance.Be realistic. If the gap is wide, yr preprn needs to be that much more intensive. U shd have a bottomline: at least be thoroughly prepared for AIEEE & BITSAT. AIEEE wd be the fallback option.

friend my case is also same as yours. your 12 marks are good and they can give u a boost to go for another year for IIT. i am also thinking to join Fiitjee Delhi centre as one can develop a spirit to study hard as the competition is very high there and u cant notice one year will pass all of a sudden. and remember by friend one year is nothing in a career and if u get IIT next year if think your joy would know no bounds as IIT IS IIT . IT'S THE BEST and it will change u completely. so if u hav confidence then go for the BEST. WISH U GOODLUCK. BYE.
