According to me you should read NCERT books thoroughly if you are concentrating for AIEEE .NCERT will clear your concepts of the various topics in which you are facing difficulty. This year in IIT even I felt the knowledge of concepts are very important and after your base is strong you can try out problems from HC Verma or even Resnick Halliday RATE ME IF MY SUGGESTION IS ACCEPTABLE

well...HCVerma is definitely a gud buk..n m also an aspirant for 2008 IIT...... and well..as far as i hav done, HCV doesnt cause much trouble, or better say, it shud not cause ..... but the point is that i take coaching...... so if u were to feel HCV is of a high level, start frm buks dat r of still basic level....say like NCERT...or INTERACTIVE PHYSICS by mtg publications...

Its good that you are comfortable with mahematics and chemistry atleast. Once you are comfortable with mathematics means you should not find any problem in picking the concepts of physics and thus the numericals. Every student has got some or other weak points. So Don't you worry. Try to make your weak point the strongest and accept the challenge of learning physics with conceptual solidarity. Start with building conepts in theory to apply them while solving numericals. For this matter go through by hard with NCERT txt books starting with +1 for physics and its solved problems. First gain confidence in solving some common problems of mechanics, then electrostatics, manetism and modern physics etc. Once finishing NCERT txt books try H .C. Verma, and solve as many problems as possible. Do post your problems, if any on GOIIT forum. I am sure you will be most comfortable with physics. Good luck.

The Scientist does not study nature because it is useful; he studies it because he delights in it, & he delights in it because it is beautiful. If nature were not beautiful, it would not be worth knowing, life would not be worth living. Ofcourse I do not here speak of that beauty that strikes the senses, the beauty of qualities & appearances; not that I undervalue such beauty, far from it, but it has nothing to do with science; I mean that profounder beauty which comes from the harmoniuos order of the parts, & which a pure intelligence can grasp. |

hey better read the book called "university physics" by young, zemanesky. it gives u a complete alround apporoach to the concept.and do not neglect the examples given. they are pretty useful.

Did u take time to solve the problems of HC VERMA that were given as examples...?
I donot mean looking at the solved examples just like it............ U need to solve those solved examples self and then at extreme case look at the solutions........
Once u have grip on the solved examples, go for the solved short questions.......Try ur self.......Then go for the EXERCISES.........!!!!!!!!!!!
Try out the way HC VERMA has told in the preface of the book........!!!!!!!!!!!
One thing I would like to tell you....... In physics u will not get straight solution of a problem using a direct formula.........U first need to visualize what is happening and u should be able to see the process in front of your eyes...Draw vigorously if required a view of the problem.....Then look for the knowns and unknowns in ur visualization........Think of the formulas u were taught u get the unknowns.........Write all the equations and solve them to get the answer......
Still u would say there are some conceptions that need to be used...........Look when u read through physics please donot try to memorize only the end formula.....They are mostly of no help.......BUT please try to get a good grip on the deduction procedure.............Learning the deduction by heart and thinking over the deduction will provide u all the required concepts.........Then u can do any problem..........
Try this "HONESTLY" at least for one week ......... say with the chapter of "Kinematics"......... If you get positive results then you know what is good for u........If u still feel difficulty ONLY go through the NCERT books...........Please donot involve into any new book.........and PLEASE PLEASE DONOT BUY RESNIK AND HALLIDAY.......!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tell me after 1 week if I could help u................And keep one thing in mind for initial phases that u are restarting ur preparation for physics so donot let the habit of only using end formulae to come.........!!!
OK.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell if u require any further help.........

Please donot go for books like.................
RESNICK HALLIDAY.............. YOUNG,SEARS,ZEMANSKY...................
They kill a lot of time to teach a thing and are not recommended for IIT........

hi bro i believe in the past two year i have faced the same problem.i believe u r in such a state where u dont require a book.u just require some good couselling.u lack confidence.try these:--- 1> nobody is born intelligent,it is just the hardwork that one puts brings good results. 2> promise urself that under all circumstances u will only put hard labour n not think about the results of iit or aieee. 3> believe in ur potential, there r some who r very good in physics but trust me they have achieved that only due to their deep interest in the subject. 4> if u have not joined any coaching institute atleast get urself enrolled 4 some test series(i believe fiitjee is a must)+some other too coz fiitjee tests begin almost at the end of the year. 5> when in comes to books, honestly arihant books r gr8.the theory part is excellent.i think it will help u to have a control on physics. 6> time management is an imp factor-give equal stress to pcm. 7> dont confuse urself too much with too many books.read few books and be a master of it. rate me if u find useful. one more thing-BEGIN TODAY AND STOP NOT B4 THE GOAL IS ACHIEVED. ALL THE BEST
