May be you dont know but i still to be an nitian who cant get into an iit after dropping an year.The truth is we believed that our one year and the brand we could make for ourselves was n e day more important than the iit tag.And yeah if you still have doubts why not take out the infrastructure(government funds) and make an apple to apple comarison between the iit's and nit's.Our highest salary is up there amonst the best(43 lacs) and the average salary is not bad for a college which is in it's 6TH(or is 7) year of inception.And yeah this is only a glimpswe of the time to come.We have come this far in 6years.How far we go in the time to come is a question only we can answer.

And dare compare atleast the top collleges like daiict,and while mentioning about bits,pilani be specific about the campus

And as about the infrastructure you have to be hare to know what you can get

Nitina in your anxiety to prove your point, which itself is a mystery, you are raising unnecessary things. When did I question your decision to join NIT instead of dropping one year for IIT ? It is your decision and that must be best for you. Who am I to say anything on that ? I refuse to take sides with NIT or IIT or BITS. I only state facts which everyone knows. If you feel NIT C is best in India. so be it for you. Highest salary by one or two candidates is a myth, which hardly state anything. Do you know the highest salary by an IITian, it is in crore. I don't go by that. But to say that NIT has better infrastructure than IIT, BITS, Pilani and Goa both, DAIICT etc is a total wrong statement.

dude this is completelely wrong........show evidence.salary in crores to an iitian, forget it. only iim A and B guys get those offers.
for the last year highest salary was 43 lakhs offered by schlumberger to 3 guys from dce and several other places also.
but no crores mate!!!!!
so much " iit hype" people have just closed their minds.

though i am in dce mech........but stil i would say this
ever heard about iiit hyderabad........only 8 yrs of existence and their cs department is at par with those of iit delhi,mumbai and kanpur........this is no shot in air but the iit kanpur professor himself said this in a seminar......
neither the iits nor the iitians are invincible........its all in mind

It has come in TV news as also in Times of India about an IITian getting Rs.1 crore. I am not an IITian but why do you people hesitate to acknowledge that these are the best. Now don't criticise the exam system etc. We are all products of this system only whether in DCE or NIT or BITS or IIT or IIIT.

Can anyone who gets selected in IIT will ever join anyother college in India for the same branch ? Come on, anyone ?

IITians paid in crores.What sort of a joke is this.niv i'd strongly insist you get your fact in order before you post thus stop misleading innocent students.Somebody who places his arguments on facts has no idea about something as basic as the h.salary.I never meant to pick cudgels with BITS(Pilani Campus),IIITHor IIT.All i intended to say was that the nit's are up there rocking amongst the best universities.If you want to end up in say nitt with cs or ec your AIR will have to be within 200(most often less unless you are from tn).So the message is straight.Getting into (good) nits thru aieee will be as tough if not tougher than entering iit's.The corporates adknowledge that being among 2500(seats in tier 1-nits) in 5lacs is ne day as tough as being among 5000 in 2lacs.And these are facts-not perception based on ingnorant beliefs.From being nowhere 5 years back to consistently turning up in the top 20 nit's have come a long way-and this is only the beginning.How far we go is a question which only time can answer

NO DOUBT THE IITS ARE BEST but not all the iitians. why should a person who got a rank <2000 in aieee consider himself less than an iitian when both are the national exams given by all.
iits are the best because govt. invests a lot in it and the hype that surrounds it. but let me tell u there are institutes who are gonna give iit run for their money: bits-pilani(not goa) already does that and iiit hyderabad is catching up real fast.
if iitians are so great why people from their best branches work with those from other institutes of the same branch at the same post. why do the best companies have to look towards the other institutes( like google or microsoft) if the iitians are so great.
infact there are already people in iiit hyderabad and bits pilani who have left iit guwahati & iit roorkee cs for that in iiit hyderabad though i agree the no. is very less.
again i say neither the iitians nor the iits are invincible.........

and dude this is confirmed the highest package was 43 lakhs last year which was not given to any iitian but guys from dce and nsit and two nits
iitians and crore.........what do iim guys get then 100 crores i guess!!!!!!!

And yeah all the people who still have doubts-There are guys in iit's who work for infosys for salaries as low as 2.5 lacs and there are guys in nitt who work for 43 lacs or on an average case 4.5 lacs.I guess the stats are there for everyone to see.2 years back the dataquest magazine pitted the iit average salary at close to 4.5lacs.In that same year the highest salary in my college was 11lacs with 35 guys out of 60 in the computer science dept. ending up with salaries over 5lacs.Facts are there for every one to see and niv statistics dont lie-perception do.

niv instead of basing your arguments on perception it would help if you read relevant magazines like the dataquest before you post.Yeah and i agree with rishabh the highest salary was payed to guys fron dce and nsit not iit's

Hey niv r u in ur senses or not.Iiitian getting 1 crores.wat a sort of rumour or i should say rather a ridiculous statement u have made.Moreover let me tell u wid vision nit 2025 coming into action alongwith nit bill will definitely take nit's to be at par with iits.U know only in nit allahabad there r about 7 crores of instruments to b placed and a high speed intranet is also planned between all the nit's.Lots of development processes hav started in the nit's since their inception.Kindly,if anybody wants to quote anything about nits have prior well knowledge before speaking about them & also don't give my acknowledgement towards brand nit(T,W,S,A) as the name of my anxiety or any of its kind or so.I think that might be a gud answer to u.

My addition to the thread might be tangential as i havnt been able to go through the entire discussion flow. but just a put a few things in perspective.. i've toured the country to recruit for my company, in one such tour i did a single trip to visit: IIT khadagpur, IIT Allahabad, DCE, MNREC allahabad and a lot others...

IIT Kh sure had a good set of people, but i landed up making these offers: 2 from IIT Khadagpur, 0 from MNR (though we reached late, so all the top guys were already taken) and the surise winner was IIIT Allahabad. I was so glad with the quality of students and behavior of faculty.. though this is around 3 years ago. i'm sure things have only inproved. guess that throws some light to the iit non-iit debate.

Ujjaval i couldnt have agreed more.Well to speak about most of the nit's a 24*7 nit is taken for granted.In places like mine every room has an internet connection around the clock.And if taht is not enough all the hostels in the college have been conneced tthrough LAN
