WHAT IS THE ELECTRIC FIELD OF A METAL SLAB WHOSE TOTAL CHARGE ON ONE OF THE SIDES IS 'Q' AND SIDE LENGTH ' L' ?

Bad news is that time always flies,
Good news is that u r the pilot.
yesterday is history,
tomorrow is a mystery,
today is a gift and that is why it's called "the present". |

if one of the sides has a charge Q the other side must also hav a charge Q. so therefore the e field on both sides is is of the same mag. electric field due to a charged metallic slab at any pt outside it is given by E= /2 o where is the surface charge density. therefore = Q/area= Q/L 2 hence E= Q/2 oL 2 (note- this is applicable only for a pt nearer to the centre, ie it is not app for pts at the sides of the slab) at any pt inside the slab E=0

I think the electric field on both of the length-based sides of the metal slab is q / 2 ebsilon not if the slab is placed in vaccum or air.
