hey see....no doubt that it and cse have a boom...but i wd rather see the pessimistic of view out of it.....no doubt ppl are mad about cse these days...only due to the very simple fact that cse guys are given fat salaries.....but...the risk in cse is that its not a core branch...and once u do csehen the only job option available to u wd be software....while if u take other branches...along with the departmental job...u can switch over to software...this case isnt possible for cse.....and cse engineers are mainly reqd in places where oftware manufacturing part is done.....india isnt advanced in this department prsently....so basically...se prospects depends a lot on the american market and economy.....remembe 2001 incident...when most of the software professionals were rendered useless....i have hrd of this,...dont have any firsthand experience as suh....and no saying about ece...its the best one presently....since itsa combination of electronics, commuication as well as software.....so go for it......
rate me if u are satisfied with ur answer....

see it depends on ur interest all d branches r equally good. fact is cs engineer will retire at age 45 or so since there had been & will be drastic changes in dis field. if u compare a cs engineer of 1985 or so & cs engi. of former stands nowhere. similary cs engi. of today may stand nowhere after 20 years or so. but it is true that presently cs is in great demand. mechanical etc r evergreen branches i think u should go for ece then mechanical u can rate 4 my efforts
