IIT JEE , AIEEE Forum - Institutes & Courses , Non IIT Institutes - bit

i have got mechanical engineering at bits - goa in their 1st list.also, i have got state rank 207 (maharashtra) in aieee. i am basically interested in pursuing electronics/electrical. in case i get the same subject in both bits - goa and nit trichy/ surathkal/ warangal, what should i choose. please give reasons also.

one of my friends got selected in iit-jee extended list as well as got an 800 odd state rank in aieee. should he join iist or an nit like bhopal / durgapur/ raipur, etc. or drop a year? please give reasons also.

1)u have got a good state rank,so u will get a good nit...i suggest u to join that instead of joining bits,goa as they are more reputed and the pay package which u will get after passing out from these institutes will be a bit higher,,,bits,goa is relatively new...so,i suggest that u don't take a chance with it..
2)if ur frnd gets iist,then its very good and he should not drop a yr..but if he doesn't get it,then instead of joining nit raipur etc..i suggest he should drop a yr and try a bit harder.to make it to iits next yr as he hasn't missed them this yr by much..hope u got it....cheers!!

if u get trichy electronics...go for it...else i think u shud come to goa..waise wats ur BITSAT score buddy??..agreed its new..but it has the same legacy as pilani...the institute is comming up on same lines as pilani.

then u hv got a gr8 chance for eni/eee goa man...also chem at pilani...tuff decisions to make for u...hope u decide wateva is best for u!

NIT Trichy or Surathkal should be first choice, if you are getting admission in these do not hesitate.

Second choice should be BITS instead of any local college.

i wanted you to know some things

regarding to bits

bits goa is a college where its first batch comes out after completing its four years this year so all companies give just an A grade to that college

for you to do higher studies you have to attend an interview for visa(for iits not required)and as an average salary you will be offered low salary compared to pilani

but one thing was shure its better to join bits goa over nit colleges

but if you get seat in pilani campus that should be your first preference

as all software companies classify pilani next to iit, but goa is not that reputated

as you got mech goa in first iteration you might get mech pilani in further iterations as this year bits score is tougher

i also suggest you to go and strike off goa preferences if you are offerered pilani campus in the fourth iteration

please dont join in nits ,you may join for a single reason as they are less expensive and you can use rest of money in abroad for higher studies if you are interested

finally your preferencial order must be

bits-pilani>bits-goa>nit

if you want to go for higher studies also this order is good
