i'd say its quite necessary to learn all the reactions coz' you'll be using them while doin' the questions...
moreover, if you want to learn them then do write them. like when you doin a particular chapter then 1st write the reactions by seeing them & try to memorise them, when the 2nd time you'll read the chapter, say after a week, then, try to write the reactions without seeing them....
i hope this helps....

well...there are too many rxns in organic chem...u just cant memorize all of them...i wud suggest that u learn general organic chemistry well....so that u know the type of reactions and reagents....u will find similarity in the ways many reagents act...

First of all read NCERT text thoroughly. Write down the reactions and mechanisms in your notebook. I liked spladhprabhu's suggestion. Learn general organic chemistry well. Understand the mechanisms and iterate them in your mind. Also learn about reagents as to where and why they are used. Do some light revision in morning hours as its the most suitable time for grabbing matters. After covering NCERT refer S N Sanyal and make the revision of all the name reactions. Continuously practicing will definitely pay.

Hey crack_iit I would rather advice to be well done with G.O.C and then understanding reactions rather than muggin them up this will surely bring down your learning them.

HOPE U GOT IT... |

Just concentrate on getting your concepts right 1st. do GOC propperly. morrison & boyd is the best book for concepts, solve it and you will automatically get comfortable with organic. remember, that organic has more to do with application than mugging.
