an aeroplane has to go from a point A to point B,500 km away due 30deg east of north.a wind is blowing in direction due north at a speed of 20m/s.the air speed of the plane is 150m/s.find the direction in which the pilot should head the plane to raech point B. i got the answer a month ago but i am not getting it now ANS(SIN INV(I/15))

It is simple yaar. Let the angle made by the plane be x degrees with the horizontal. disp in x dirX=250km disp in y dir=Y=250root3 km X=uxt X=15tcosx=250000..(1) and Y=250000root3=150tsinx+20...(2) Two equations --1,2 Two variables-t,x Solve!

In the figure , the bigger angle is  =  +30degrees By vector laws, tan 30= 150 sin  /20+150cos  If u want to find alpha(angle with AB) it can be found. angle with the vertical  can also be found. Hope this helps. Nudge me for explanations.

the logic is keep the velocity in theta such that the resultant of both the velocities will be towards east of north 45 degree .
