Can benzene react with steam or hot water to give phenol?

ya it is possible only at high temperature because this is attack of nucleophile.these type of reaction also occurs in phenol at high temperature.you take referance from i.l.finar.other method to convert benzene into phenol is oxidation by fentons reagent FeSO4 +H2O2.
