A Secret Of Success--------- Must Read!   Awaiting Review for Nickels
Tagged with:    [Post New]posted on 12 Oct 2007 14:48:53 IST
The competitions in India are becoming more and more difficult each year. In part this is due to our huge population. In part, due to easier availability of information, books and coaching.
IIT-JEE is so difficult that perhaps 1 out of each 100 student gets success. And, many do not even try for IIT-JEE (they just try local board or private colleges).

What it means for you is that you must be very focused in your preparation for maximizing your chance of success. You must do all you can to get every extra marks because just a few marks can make all the difference.
In short, study hard, do some physical exercise daily for 20 to 30 minutes, sleep well, use best coaching and books, and expect success.

What is the value of one additional mark - Rs 50,000, Rs 1 lakh, Rs 5 lakhs, or ...

If a student achieves success in competition, then an additional mark may not be very valuable. But if that additional one mark will turn failure into success, then it is worth a lot.
Here are two cases:
First, the student tries again and succeeds the next year. So he looses the salary for one year. That also means that he may be working one year less before he retires. He will lose the salary for the final year of his career and that salary could be 5,00,000  to 20 lakhs or even more per month.
Second, a student does not succeed. For example, if someone fails for the second time in IIT-JEE, he/she will not get another chance. That means getting a smaller salary. If you add the difference in the earnings for a lifetime, it may add up to many crores of rupees (or millions of dollars).
But money is not all. There are other important advantages of success such as better job, pride of achievement, more respect, more self-confidence, more satisfaction, greater security, etc.
This shows that one additional mark in a competition may be worth a lot because it can make the difference between success and failure. And you should do whatever possible to get each additional mark.
Hope, now u must have understood the secret of success.

That's very discouraging...........as if everything depended on whether you are an IItian or not........must have been copied from some coaching institute's website..........people may like it............but I think it's a very bad way to look at things..........very negative in its outlook..............how about thinking of the drop year as the biggest learning curve your life when you overcome your demons.........and focus on what you want with all that pressure to cpe with...........come to think of it; a person may come out stronger and more refined than what they would have been had they tasted success in their first attempt.........failure may hit you any time.........better if it does so earlier in life.......isn't it?
