what is relative velocity

Well .....

Relative velocity of a particle (say B) w.r.t another particla (say A) is nothing but the velocity of B as seen by A .....

Mathematically,

V_B/A = V_B/ground - V_A/ground

The same is for relative acceleration and relative displacement .....

a_B/A = a_B/ground - a_A/ground

S_B/A = S_B/ground - S_A/ground

Just apply these formulae whenever ya require .....

This much is enough to solve any problem regarding relative motion .....

actually when you see any question on relative velocity just reverse the velocity of body with respect to whom the rel.vel. is to be calculayted and add the new rev.vel . to the first velociyty whose rel.vel. is to be found hope you will find this trick useful everytime even in case of tough problem thanks
