why do rays of light while passing thru a prism bend 2wards the base of prism???

What's the base of prism ? But maybe this will help : Look, light always bends towards the normal when it goes from air to denser medium [ glass ] and away when from denser to air.

it just bends towards the normal drawn on the incident side of the prism.
and the reason for this is that glass has a higher refractive index than air or vacuum

consider a beam falling and draw it as light within boundaries of 2 rays.
now when the beam strikes one side of the prism.. one ray out of the two will have two travel a larger distance to hit the prism... so after the light beam hits the surface of prism it bends a little so that extra distance which would have been needed to be covered is reduced and frequency of light doesnt change
