yaar its like man utd vs barca...... i mean you don't go for a book......just because its tougher than anything on your shelf........you wont be suggesting sum1 RD if you want him to take interest in maths.......it can really dent ur confidence for starters........  i rate a book by its collective appeal.......and i think ML is a book for a wider genre and class of students than RD.....RD is more for core maths....u know if u want to go to the next level.......... so ML Khanna is better any day..... p.s- ML khanna didn't pay me to say all this

See R.D.Sharma is best for the school level.....
And M.L.Khanna is best for competitive exams.....

RD sharma for sure....absolute conceptual problems and an amazing though fat book...
but truly its amazing and its got awesome question..on the other hand ML khanna's a bit too long stretched

see,ML KHANNA is a good starter.
it is not sufficient for jee preparation.
for higher understanding RD SHARMA or TATA MGRAW HILL will do.

RD Sharma is far better than ML Khanna in theory,which in my opinion is most important.Most of the students are afraid/weak in mathematics because they don't go through theory part.
Understanding of theory + IQ + Skill = Mathemagician
IQ=God Gift + Hardwork
Intelligent Hardwork*IQ=Success (for all values of IQ>0 ;))
RD Sharma can make you skilled,Then go for IA Maron and SL LONEY (Awesome Books)
So my vote goes to RD Sharma
