Q. The solubility of sparingly soluble AgCl can be increased with addition of:

a. aq. NH3
b. aq. NaCN
c. Both
d. None of these.

Explain with proper solution.

Ratings do not necessarily signify that someone is good, or bad. I'm here to learn and help others learn, and a person unlocking the mysteries with the help of my solution, to a nagging problem, means more pleasure to me than ratings can ever make me feel.

does the ability of Ag to form complexes actually increase its solubility?

The answer is aq NHas it forms the complex (Ag(NH3)2)  and yes complexes increase stability coz if we think of it is nothing but a equilibrium reaxn with a very high Kc. Hence Solubilities inc with complexes.

But it need not always be so in cases where reaxn depend s on other factors more or that the complex formed is unstable Eg. (Cd(CN)4)3-
