Let I z1-1 I =1 applying I Iz1I - Iz2I I <= Iz1+-z2I <=Iz1I + Iz2I IIz1I - I1II <= Iz1-1I<=Iz1I+I1I u get thus I Iz1I -1 I <=1 -1<=Iz1I -1<=1 min value of Iz1I = 0 and max is2 now I Iz2I - I4iI I<=Iz2-4i I <= Iz2I + I4iI from this I Iz2I -4 I <=1 -1<= Iz2I -4<=1 min value of Iz2I is 3 and max value is 5 thus I Iz1I - Iz2I I<=Iz1-z2I <= Iz1I + Iz2I thus max value will be 2+5=7 min value will be I0-3I =3 thus 7-3 =4

guyz its much simpler by unit circle method The gvn eqns represent 2 unit circles, one wid centre 0,4 anoder centre 1,0 max dist= dist between centres + r1 +r2 =sqrt(17)+2 min dist simlarly is dist betw centre-r1-r2 =sqrt(17)-2 difference between max and min dist is 4
